I remember coming home from work in the car. I saw a cyclist get hit by a car. Head bleeding . The driver completely shaken just looking at the cyclist. Everyone else just went their merry way. I had all my medical equipment in my car from my work, I pushed my car in the middle of road to divert traffic and told the driver to call ambulance. Literally just me on my own helping the man, recovery position etc all the bells and whistles till the ambulance came. Over 50 cars drove past. Even if I didn't have any medical experience I still would have stopped.

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

This feels like a Facebook "PM me hun" moment.....

But people can be arseholes. This is not a new thing and shouldn't really come as a surprise to you or anyone.

Did you or anyone step in to make sure no one was hurt? Because that's the thing to focus on. Any positive reaction.

Certainly not a FB pm moment.

I did voice my opinion as did a couple of the nurses and a doctor who had to step in because of the inconsiderate behaviour of these individuals.

I don’t believe anyone is considerate all of the time. Some people are just lacking consideration most of the time, which is sad.

Good. Well done.

I don't understand why you're surprised that people are inconsiderate. Especially in hospitals where you spend most of your time as a nurse and know that it's a stressful environment for most people.

I'd have thought the actions of those stepping in would have been more surprising. And in a good way.

This is very true. Although without knowing what actually happened it’s difficult to give an opinion.

I think it was the lack of respect more between the patients that just made me think "wow"

"What happened yesterday?"

Bit long winded..I'll try and keep it short.

2 patients started on another for constantly being on her phone (during the day) they way they were going on at this poor woman was vile and disgusting. The patient being harrased was in tears and begging the nurses to get her out of bed so she could use her phone elsewhere even though she was not allowed out off bed. The nurses said to these 2 that in times like this consideration is they key.

I just couldn't believe the lack of it!!

She was trying to be as quiet as possible bless her. As the nurses pointed out to the 2 kicking off was that it was during the middle of the day and unfortunately this poor woman could not or was not allowed out of bed.

Had it been during the night then maybe these 2 would have had a reason to say something but it was their whole attitude was just plain nasty.

That's what I was thinking. If she was just on her phone quietly, then they were out of order. If she was constantly talking at a more audible volume it would piss me right off. I've been there too much.

But they could have been pleasant about it.

Maybe they weren't getting any peace.

I'd hate to share a room where someone talked non stop.....

I'd not object in hospital though as it's not forever.

If they are ill themselves they may not have been as patient as usual.

The ward is usually used for day care only but because the hospital was full we were all put on this particular ward.
