Don’t disparage another nice word.
There’s are so many, much better words though "
But….but….but nice is nice too. (Crying again) |

It’s not my favourite, but thinking about it, it’s actually very useful… it’s an easy descriptive for something I’m not passionate about but think is pleasant… something I enjoyed but wouldn’t necessarily buy/use again.. something that’s pleasant to look at but doesn’t light my fire… it’s a step above ambivalent but in a nice way.. bugger |

It's rather banal isn't it? More often than not a self held belief of being a particular way or a word used when lexicon fails you and you want to say something positive so out comes stumbling... oh yes, they are so... nice.
Nice.
A dreary, lacklustre word that fails to convey a more rounded image of a person, a shallow appraisal given if someone is kind to another, doesn't step out of line. I've never seen someone on the forum I'd describe in such dull tones, they are far more vivid a person.
Nice.
A way to describe something that's adequate, invokes a brief positive feeling but nothing more. Bring the passion with your words, reject the simplicity, the abysmal damnation of being rather simply...
Nice. |

'Nice' is such an adaptable word because it has become rather meaningless.
You can use it -
positively: 'What a nice day.'
negatively: 'He's a bit too nice.'
sarcastically: 'Do you like my new hat?' / 'Nice '
to show something is cool: 'After we left the party we shagged.' / 'Nice '
or when you don't know what to say: 'I took all 12 inches in one go.' / 'Nice?! ' |

It's a reflection on how we see ourselves, when someone thinks they deserve a more descriptive word. We always look for something more especially when it comes from someone we are attracted to. We overthink things too much as humans. |

"What is it about that word, it’s so …… blah.
Am I right, it do you like it?"
The word 'nice' is meaningless.
Adjectives can be precise, they can have meaning and they certainly need context.
e.g.
A meal is delicious - not nice.
A journey is pleasant - not nice.
A friend is loyal - not nice.
Good sex is adventurous, dirty or satisfying - not nice.
Someone you fancy is attractive, alluring, bewitching - not nice.
A bride is stunning, beautiful, mesmerising - not nice.
A new born baby is an astonishing miracle.
Who says ...... I've just had a baby. It is nice.
Nice is non descript.

To me it’s like a filler a word you use when you can’t really think of anything else to say or your not really paying attention to what someone else is saying
‘That’s nice’ no clue what your responding too but it covers the bases, it’s a bit of a meaningless word x |

"It’s origin is to describe some stupid.
Strange huh?
That explains why people keep telling me I have a "nice" face "
Latin - nescire - not know
Latin - nescius- ignorant
Old French - nice - stupid
Sorry…..

Well it isn't your fault.

Think of it like the words “bad”, “wicked” or “sick”. Back in the 13th century amongst the tabard and tight wearing youf, saying “you’re nice” was probably the equivalent of saying “you’re wicked” |

To me it’s what I call a poker face word! I’m never quite sure if it’s a good or bad thing when people use it in messages, however I use the word nice lots verbally, but always meant in a positive way! Miss PC x |

"Can't beat a nice cup of tea.
In this case, the word nice is perfectly acceptable, I’m enjoying a nice cup of tea right now
Thank goodness for that, didn't want to resort to fisticuffs "
I wouldn’t if I were you, I might enjoy it too much |

The Headmaster at ma last Boarding School, who was also our English teacher, used to lambast us for using it in an essay or when describing something. To me, now it's just a place in France, or a packet of biscuits |

You’re all not being nice to nice. I’m not going to be nice about it and shall storm out of this thread in a huff.
Instead, on this delightful day, I shall please myself with a pleasurable cup of tea in the glorious sunshine whilst perving some enchanting photos of the beguiling women in this fabulous website as their charming poses enthral me. I wish you all a congenital day.

Some folks put much reliance
On politics and science
There's only one hero for me
His praise we should be roaring
The man who thought of pouring
The first boiling water onto tea
I like a nice cup of tea in the morning
For to start the day you see
And at half past eleven
Well my idea of heaven
Is a nice cup of tea
I like a nice cup of tea with me dinner
And a nice cup of tea with me tea
And when it's time for bed
There's a lot to be said
For a nice cup of tea
You can talk about your science
And your airships in the sky
I can do without the wireless
And you'll never see me fly
The public benefactor of the universe for me
Is the genius that thought of pouring water onto tea
I like a nice cup of tea in the morning
For to start the day you see
And when I get the breakfast in
Well my idea of sin
Is a fourth, or a fifth, cup of tea
I like a nice cup of tea with me dinner
And a nice cup of tea with me tea
And when it's time for bed
There's a lot to be said
For a nice cup of tea
They say it's not nutritious
But still it is delicious
And that's all that matters to me
It turns your meat to leather
But let's all die together
The one drink in paradise is tea
I like a nice cup of tea
In the morning
For to start the day you see
And at half past eleven
Well my idea of heaven
Is a nice cup of tea
I like a nice cup of tea with me dinner
And a nice cup of tea with me tea
And when it's time for bed
As I think I may have said
I'd like a nice cup of tea
You can talk about your liberties
They talk of women's rights
I don't want to make no speeches
Because the one that does is trite
And anyone can have my vote and chuck it in the sea
But golly there'll be trouble if they try to touch me tea
I like a nice cup of tea with me dinner
And a nice cup of tea with me tea
And when it's getting late
Almost anything can wait
For a nice cup of tea
Not mine.... just an old song.
