Or should the rule be don't ogle and drive? Not sure what the roadside test for seeing if someone's a pervert would be though.
I think you're opening a can of worms suggesting people can't wear what they want but best of luck with the thread OP |

"It seems that the ladies are wearing ever more tight leggings with new materials and many men find this sexy. Is it a distraction.? Does it cause car accidents and should it be banned .."
Next, someone may suggest that women's choice of clothing is the reason they're sexually assaulted....
Or maybe this about men. Perhaps. |

I walk through a large city daily in my gym wear and there are certain spots where i stop to wrap a top around my waist to cover my lower half, despite the heat as I feel vulnerable |

Pretty much every day I get the ladies rowing team doing their thing under my office window and they usually linger there for chats and coaching sessions. It's so distracting that sometime I have to go down to the balcony for a break... |

The roads would be safer if people concentrated on driving.
If you're that easily distracted, you maybe ought to take tbe bus |

A couple of weeks back in the last hot weather.
I was taking next door neighbour to a hospital appointment as they were not allowed to drive home after treatment.
While at a set of traffic lights the wife of neighbour commented , what is she wearing. Now as I was turning right and two cars back from traffic lights . Could not see what the comment meant. Until a car from right hand where I was going into , started to turn , but carried nearly straight on. I saw the female drivers face looking forward in disbelief . She had to stop / reverse to get car in correct direction. What had caused this was, female crossing road. She was wearing what I would describe as a full body leotard. It was skin tight to show off her body including pubic area clearly. Only other thing this female had was a small type gym bag. This was rush hour time in morning. Other couple of drivers who I could see were males. Younger guys and yes looking but one sort of not believing and other shaking head. I did wonder . Why wear something so revealing in public area, without lightweight cover over. In gym yes normal perhaps. ? |

Perhaps..... Just perhaps..... She was wearing it because it made her feel good?! Could be a thing, don't you think?
I went for a walk with a friend this evening. I was wear a cute little skort and crop top user a t-shirt. As we got into the fields I took my t-shirt off and walked with just my crop top on top of my skort. Then as we got back in to the village I put my t-shirt back for fear of being considered indecent. Next time I'm not going to bother. I felt good in that crop top, it shouldn't matter what others think. |

Distracting to drivers "
If you could see 'the orange peel fat ( which incidently was most likely cellulite, which has nothing to do with body fat), on a pedestrian whilst on the road, then you were not paying enough attention to the road, and you are the damn problem. |

Because it's her body and she should be able to choose what covers it.
Has the tragedy of Sarah Everard and thousands of other women taught us nothing? Women should not have to modify their dress for fear of 'arousing' men with no self control. |

Perhaps, no matter what time of day it is, this woman decided that she could wear what ever the hell she wanted - and not even take a second thought at what the reaction might be?

You are, of course, right. Women should not have to modify what they are wearing. Men should be in control of their urges to do something inappropriate. Granted.
Would this be the message I give to my daughter? No.
I would tell her that in an ideal world people do not steal appealing things they have seen in a shop window. In an ideal world we should not have to worry about leaving handbags/ laptops etc in our cars in full sight. In an ideal world people do not fall for scammers etc.
At the risk of sounding anti-feminist (I am not) I will tell my daughter to dress appropriately and the example given above is not.
For we do not live in an ideal world and I do not want my daughter to take unnecessary risks. |

For anybody rolling eyes at my statement that unfortunately, we do not live in a perfect world and I would not let my daughter go out dressed inappropriately - please bear in mind that this may not be a perfect solution and it is not fair etc.
But I'd rather have my daughter safe and as such, she does not expose herself to a risk she cannot quantify.
Sometimes the law may well be on your side but it does not mean you do not get hurt nonetheless. |

Please don't think I'm eye rolling at you - it was the OP's misogynist comment on a misogynistic thread!
I hear you & see where you're coming from. We shouldn't have to adjust our behaviour but judging by comments on this thread, you're definitely doing the right thing by your daughter |

"Ugh, I hate people.
Which people do you hate more - the ones that transgress or the ones that try and avoid unnecessary risks?
"
It's not people like you I hate. It's sad to say but I am in agreement with your previous comments. I have a young daughter and sadly I'm very familiar with men who think the way a woman is dressed somehow makes their actions and behaviour towards them justifiable. I'll always make sure my daughter is cautious and encourage her to not dress in certain ways. I hate that this is how it has to be, but these threads prove you really do need to have your wits about you.

Saffron, Volupta and Buttercream - perhaps we should not give them airtime.
It is close to my heart because I do believe in equality, freedom and women's rights to dress as they wish as part of that freedom. And I am sad and angry that we still seem unable to do that even in a modern, democratic country like ours.
I will shut up now - more or less gracefully
Thanks, guys |

Why is it always women getting the blame for what they wear? Why don't the ones that are staring/ watching/ perving / getting distracted or god forbid, worse?! Why aren't they getting the blame?!

I mean I wear tight lycra in the gym because it's the best thing to work out in. However, what does it matter why women wear it? If they want to wear it to get noticed, still doesn't give anyone the right to lear and make suggestive comments at them. |

It doesn't matter why they are wearing it. The key question is why are some men creeps. Take a look at the athletic shorts thread and you'll see what I mean.
In fact I bet you 50p that the commentators on the ssimmung/diving in thd Olympics make more comments on the womens costumes than the men's.
We wear our clothes for us, to make us more comfortable/feel good. If you appreciate it then that's all good. It's when you start blaming our clothing choice on men's inability to control themselves when it's problematic. |

It's the mandated costume for the sport and it seems that some committee wants to keep it that way for no good reason. |

Although allegedly women must wear mifrift exposing tops and bottoms with a close fit and cut on an upward angle as this is appropriate when pjaying on sand. Oddly the male teams wear tank tops that cover their midrift and shorts no shorter than 4" above the knee. Yet they also play on sand..... Hmmmmmmmm |

"The key question for me is why woman are wearing super tight lycra that leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination. Comfort, fashion or to get noticed?
It doesn't matter why they are wearing it. The key question is why are some men creeps. Take a look at the athletic shorts thread and you'll see what I mean.
In fact I bet you 50p that the commentators on the ssimmung/diving in thd Olympics make more comments on the womens costumes than the men's.
We wear our clothes for us, to make us more comfortable/feel good. If you appreciate it then that's all good. It's when you start blaming our clothing choice on men's inability to control themselves when it's problematic.
What about the beach volleyball...who is that for?
I don't understand your question?
It's the mandated costume for the sport and it seems that some committee wants to keep it that way for no good reason.
I think the ladies volleyball team should be modestly dressed..
Go tell the European governing body then as they fined the Norwegian team 1500 euros for wearing hot pants instead of bikini bottoms.
And why was this ?
It's all over the news Tom, go take a look
Although allegedly women must wear mifrift exposing tops and bottoms with a close fit and cut on an upward angle as this is appropriate when pjaying on sand. Oddly the male teams wear tank tops that cover their midrift and shorts no shorter than 4" above the knee. Yet they also play on sand..... Hmmmmmmmm
And your conclusion is?"
It's got fuck all to do with their performance on the court |
