Who else has a thing for classic television programmes from many decades ago?

Even though I was born in the 1980s, for some reason, I've always had a fond for classic shows or movies from decades before.

I now want to collect dvds of classic shows like The Rag Trade, Billy Liar and Please Sir for example and have a good laugh watching them lol.

I'm a big fan of a lot of older comedy programmes, both TV and radio. My car radio is usually tuned to Radio 4Exta

Films I find a bit more hit-and-miss, although the early Pink Panther and Carry On movies, as well as Ealing Comedies like The Ladykillers, still stand up reasonably well

I am old enough to remember when they demonstrated video recorders and CDs on Tomorrow's world

As much as I've enjoyed watching classic movies when I was a kid, I've now become fascinated with classic shows after I bought a dvd called Classic ITV Christmas Comedy which featured Christmas specials from classic shows like On The Buses, The Rag Trade, The Dustbinmen and so on.

It has now become my mission to find and add these classic shows to my collection lol

12 angry men one of my favourite films.

Interesting that yesterday they had carry on spying... Which was about.... STENCH (Society for the Total Extinction of Non-Conforming Humans)... The leader was of non specific gender (hattie jacques)... Perhaps sid James wasn't a comedian but an ahead of his time agitator for agenda 21!

Put this below on the Only Fools Thread…

Porridge, especially the episode’ A night in’ great acting and script. Was always my favourite I loved that it didn’t have intro music, the door slamming was almost like you were entering the Prison yourself.

Created the word naff (not available for fucking) and when I went for an interview to be a Prison Officer after leaving the Army, the Officers I were talking to said it summed up Prison quite well. They all knew a Fletcher

Obviously a great bunch of actors, even the supporting casts were cast well, but with Richard Beckinsdale and Ronnie Barker perfect in their roles and written by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais I just think it never had a bad episode.

In the past week, I've managed to collect three classic shows on dvd when I found them at the Cex shop which are Please Sir!, Bless Me Father and The Rag Trade.

I'm even actually watching The Rag Trade right now and it is pretty funny lol

Love a bit of Hitchcock and more a classic movies kind of girl here.

Audrey Hepburn, Doris Day and Rita Hayworth are faves.

Did have a Carry on weekend a few months ago and really enjoyed the nostalgia despite the warning at the start ( beware this is a vintage movie and attitudes / language represent the era it was made.)

Classic TV- Randall and Hopkirk and Mork and Mindy were my faves

I remember when they had the all female American band L7 on. At the end of the song the singer pulled her pants down and of course the cameraman zoomed in on her pubes. Or as Terry Christian introduced the clip in the compilation show "And now a snatch of L7!"

I've always loved watching the Carry On movies ever since I was a kid. I would even watch certain movies on certain occasions like for example, if I was staying at a hotel, I would watch Carry on Camping and if I was going on cruise holiday, I would watch Carry on Cruising.

If you ever get the chance, go to see 12 Angry Men on stage; saw it with Tom Conti a few years back and it was brilliant. (I didn't go to see it WITH Tom, he was playing the Henry Fonda role! )

Due to us all living in a seriously screwed up pc world. All the classic programmes will never be shown. I love on the buses, love thy neighbour, ain't half hot mum,in sickness and in health. They are all classics along with many more and they beat this reality crap hands down for entertainment. I think you can see some on Brit Box.

Carry on camping...

A few years ago I took a digital projector on a camping holiday and showed it on the side of a tent to about 15 people. A good laugh.
