It was announced before the final of the European Football Tornament that Jadon Sancho may sign for Manchester United. Put yourself in his shoes. To play in a country where many have racially abused him.
I guess if I was in his shoes then I would be apprehensive to say the least. Had anyone started a new job and not been nervous? This man and five others had the courage to do his job in front of 60,000 people. And the fickle then turn on their idols...
If he does not come to play in England then who can blame him.. If he does come then cheer him and cherish him. He is human like the rest of us..
And he has simply said.. Racism won't win...

Meanwhile, Jeff Bezos has spent billions to go to space for 4 minutes, all the while saying "I have so much money I don't know what to spend it on." when he alone has sufficient wealth to end food poverty in the entire continent of Africa, if he so desired. Like almost all billionaires, he doesn't though. He cares not for other people, you only need to read about working conditions in Amazon warehouses for that. It's footballers who we should blame though, obvs.  |

First, I've already said that my original comment was not well thought out and apologised.
Second, I AM bothered about the inequalities of wealth across the planet. Why did you think I wasn't?
Third, If there had been a post about Bezos or Musk, I might well have posted a comment. But this post was about footballers, not them.
Fourth, I have standing orders that go from my bank account every month (for quite a few years now) that directly support charities working in the developing world. That's my ongoing contribution to fighting global wealth inequality.
Fifth, I have personally worked for charities in the following countries. Nicaragua, Ecuador, Nepal, Indonesia, Malaysia, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi. By work I mean project management, managing other volunteers and manual labour. I can't call this ongoing as covid restrictions have curtailed all of this for me. I also did a protracted period of work in an Asian country with an armed insurrection and hostile environment, but for the sake of clarity, I will declare I was paid well for that.
Sixth, some footballers deserve massive credit for the charitable work they do. Undoubtedly they will have changed people's lives for the better. Some other footballers have spunked away their money on booze, fast cars and luxury items. (Others have just wasted it :- ) I think this is about the type of person they are and the fact that they are footballers is incidental. I still think they get paid too much for playing a game that entertains people.
Seventh, I think I may be revealing too much personal info about myself through this post, but I've decided I will press "Post Message" anyway.
Eighth, I've already said my earlier comment was not well though out and I don't see much point in repeating that every few posts.

Contributing almost 1/18th of his wealth is a nice PR stunt, but if you think it atones for the awful working conditions he imposes on his workforce then it achieved exactly what he wanted it to. Like a cat and a laser pen.
Amazon are one of the worst culprits for damaging the environment. In 2018 alone they were responsible for 44 million metric tons of CO2 being released into the atmosphere. $10bn is unlikely to reverse the impact of his own company since its inception, let alone make any meaningful impact on the planet as a whole. If he wants to actually contribute to a cleaner environment, he needs to start with his own back yard.
Anyway, this topic has gone astray. Can't wait to see Sancho for United! Top top player, clearly a very grounded young guy and an elite mentality. He'll stick it to the racists on the pitch. |

And they're targets, they've not been met yet. Amazon has done far more environmental damage than their planned measures and Jeff's PR donation will reverse.

There's rashford, martial and Dan James all more suited to that left berth. Reckon that's why Dan James hasn't gone on loan to cover rashford. If he plays Sancho left, that will mean James right, and James is much better from the left so it seems a no brainer to me that is martial stays, it'll be martial cavani Sancho front 3. |

Let's hope we don't get the Martial of last season but I'm not sure I'd trust him on the left at this point if I was Ole, he doesn't track back consistently enough. Dan James could potentially claim that spot temporarily, agree about him being much better from the left but still don't know if his top level is good enough against most PL teams. We've been very impressed with Elanga in preseason and watch the U23s a lot, think he's ready to make the leap but would need to see him in more competitive games to know for sure. Then you could also play Sancho on the left and have either Mason or Amad on the right...so many options! Great problem for Ole to have |

I think one of the things that was visually evident (if not vocally) was the lack of ethnic diversity within other European teams. A friend of mine made a comment about Rudiger being black and German almost like they didn't expect there to be black people in Germany?!!!

Disagree slightly on Rashford/Martial. Rashford is streets ahead when he's at his best, but how often have we seen that due to injuries he's been carrying (and played through) over the last 2 seasons? He's had that shoulder injury since October last year! He always finds a bit extra in the tank for City no matter what though, true red in that sense
Reckon Tony is marginally better as a 'false' 9 than on the left these days, but his movement is obviously nowhere near Cavani's. Last season was a total write off for him no matter where he played, you'd hope it's only up from here even if he's not going to be with us long-term!
Really looking forward to seeing more of Greenwood at CF. Think he's done enough to be 2nd choice to Cavani now (another problem that leaves Martial in limbo). All the noise is United will sign a striker next summer whether it be Haaland or Kane. I reckon one of them will be the striker for the next 4-5 years from 2022/23 and then Mason will make it his own when he's 24/25 and in his physical peak. That's just what I reckon Ole is planning anyway, he takes a long term view on everything and has done brilliantly in that regard thus far.
