It's probably been asked before but which do you prefer?

I've got dogs and a cat.... I prefer the dogs (don't tell the cat that), although the cat definitely rules the house

Dogs every time. They are loyal, devoted and a decent one would do anything for you. Cats on the other hand offer absolutely nothing. They are arrogant and selfish!

I'm the same.... wouldn't have a cat if I didn't like them (also used to have a lot to do with them in a previous job), just prefer my dogs. Probably because they give so much love

My dogs have been there through thick and thin throughout my life and while it is heartbreaking when you lose one the joy they bring is worth the pain when they leave.

They love water and take to the lead easily if you start them as a kitten. Just be a bit wary as they're one of the most stolen pets around.

Much prefer a dog over a cat attitude wise, but dogs are a lot more effort to look after properly… walks, cleaning up after them etc..

… and far too many dog owners don’t know this or actually care

I like dogs and cats, I have a cat she is low maintenance, and can be left to her own devices during the day. Don’t need to walk her very little cleaning up after her and doesn’t pine whilst I’m out.

Dogs give more indication that they love you but there is far too much time and effort involved.

Cats are like an FB free and easy.

Dogs are like a trophy wife, loads of time effort and expense

I love cats (even though they make my eyes swell shut) but I don't like the thought of them rubbing their bumhole on my kitchen counters so I wouldn't have one in my flat. I love other people's cats.

I also love dogs, but a second floor flat doesn't make for an ideal home for one, so I'm petless.

Never used to be a fan, thought they were aloof but getting two myself I realise you get out what you put in when it comes to cats. Dogs are slutty with their love but a cat you have to earn it! I play and interact with mine daily and theyre the most loving characterful little things! My girl cat is like my shadow, always near me. I think if you the type who gets a cat, sticks a cat flap in and pretty much forgets about it then they won't bond with you

Agree completely! Cats are very different animals to dogs and they show their affection very differently but once you can "read" a cat, you realise just how loving and friendly they can be. They also have a completely unexplainable "randomness" to them which makes them very entertaining to be with.
