Poor management and decision making. Brining on two players purely to take a penalty, who barely got a touch of the ball on the field. Putting a 19 year old kid on the spot to take the 5th pen which is the most important. What a shit show!

Italy week deserved winners. Best some very good and strong teams a long the way.

I almost thing england scored too early. Tried to sit back and defend and just ended up being exhausted very early.

The substitutions and penalty takers were strange. Id have Jordan Henderson as a peno take just given his experience.

That was character building for Saka, however poor choice to put such pressure on a teen.

The knock on southgate is that he is conservative, considering his disposal of talent. We gave the initiative to Italy after scoring, when we were in fact on top.

Also, I believe that lots of pressure was put on England due to the hysteria, which I personally found a bit too much. They were sort of expected to 'bring it home'. We didnt appreciate the fact that Italians as a footballing nation thrive on siege mentality, considering that they played in Wembley.

Another thing I hate when taking pens is that run up that some players take. I was always taught to pick a spot a go for it without hesitation. If its saved its saved, no shame.

Every generation of players have to go through a heartache, this current crop are young and have years ahead, so chin up, lots to play for in years ahead!

Congratulations Italy for me they were the best team in the Euro’s and after they equalised I actually thought they would go on to win the game in the 90 minutes. As for Rashford and Sancho missing their penalties and some saying it may have been because they were not involved in the match until the last two minutes I personally would rather have had them take the penalties instead of the players that they replaced Henderson and Walker.

Totally agree. Although it was 5 brave men. Winning or losing doesn't make you less brave. They all stepped up and deserve our praise.

I think we're all just very disappointed to be honest. We're looking for reasons why we weren't good enough because it obviously can't be because the other team played well lol

Also, it can give us something to look out for next time to see if the team improves on the mistakes of today. I think retrospection of tournament performance is a good thing in my opinion.

Hardly. We beat Germany, spanked Ukraine like any good team would've and beat a spirited Denmark side. Also, when you finish top of your group, you can get the easier draws we have certainly fucked up in past tournaments.

“It is how it is” sounds very realist to me, no sugar coating or anything. Not negative either, but maybe it has a tinge of … glass half full to it… if it makes sense what I’m saying.

I make no secret that I totally abhor the whole game and personally, cannot see the attraction of 22 guys chasing a bag of wind around a field.

But from another perspective, even from a "dinosaur" such as me, considering where the England Team was a few years ago, G.S. has to be applauded to have raised the standard, respect of, and the overall reputation of the England Team. He's put England back on the Football World Stage and shown they aren't to be messed with.

Now, we only need someone of his calibre to help us win the Eurovision Sing Contest!

"As I said on an early thread, far to arrogant for their own good. Once they scored the first goal it was like...we've got this!

For someone who admits they have zero interest in football and have a completely dismissive attitude to the game, you have very strong words about a whole group of young men who have done their country proud.

I do, don't I....just like everyone else

Based on knowledge? Nope.

Some people really need to chill. Easier than England this....

That very much sounds like you know you are deliberately trying to wind people up.

It's not pleasant.

People were excited by a game of football and now are a little disappointed but still proud and trying to Stir the pot just seems well very unkind.

In fairness if it was the Scott’s that tanked out of the Euro final id be laughing my tits off too. But will just have to settle for them having a orgasm over qualifying, bless em

Thing is, we know we are shit lol

Yes but England isnt because we got to the finals. I think this is a case of sour grapes. "

Seriously....I dont even support Scotland but we'll done on being predictable

I also said earlier both teams had a reasonable game. Not my fault the England team just weren't good enough on the night....if it winds you up that much then god help you.

Your initial post of ‘arrogant twats’ is what has wound people up. Not your condescending comments since. "

It was actually arrogant English twats.

"Its amazing how quickly people turn from supporting to criticisingcriticised since game one i expect better i dont stand for failure

Relax yourself, it's only football nobody died"

Exactly. It's simply a game in which there will always be a winning and a losing participant or team.

But as usual, the "red mist" appears as the likely negative comments arise, just as they are doing right now!

That's what kills the game more often than the actual match; the back biting, that one nation's team was better than others.

Why can't people be more conciliatory and acceptance of each other. Be kind! It's not the end of the world!

But the whole idea of the competition is to prove that your nations football team was better than the others!

Because as English supporters we are expected to accept the ridicule that comes from the other home nations. A joke is a joke at the end of the day and that’s cool.

However, If we show an ounce of passion or pride we get knocked down for it.

Yet the Welsh are allowed to be a ‘proud’ nation.

The Scots are often lauded for their ‘passionate’ support.

We lost, we lost to the better team. But the way Southgate and the squad handled themselves and gave us something to take our minds off of the bollocks that had happened to us all this past 18 months is commendable.

And on top of that for the first time in years we are excited about the England football team

Yes, it is. But reality shows that some people, fans, etc really get so wound up or are so fanatical and supportive of their team, they lose track on reality.

At the end of it all, it's just a game. There will always be a winner and a runner up. Recognise the achievements of your chosen team and what they did to get to the final game, and how they can improve for the next tournament.

But people need to step away from the nation against nation back-biting comments as so often occurs after a football match at any level.

I approach football as a piece of entertainment, something to take my mind off things and let me make daft jokes and stupid observations, Clive, so it saddens me that politics/nationalism/petty minded snides has to infiltrate the conversation around. Sometimes you'll watch a film and enjoy it sometimes it will be crap sometimes you'll be ambivalent towards it but you don't let it drag on after the curtains come down, same with football really
