The best thing to do when you're fed up about something is to start a thread about it . Surefire way to avoid people talking about it

Fed up of football.

Is that because your local team are absolutely awful?

No I’m not fed up of it. I’m not particularly a football fan but I want to get behind the national team and to be fair, they don’t usually get to the final. It’s worth talking about and supporting

It’s only every 4 years and bring lots in the economy and good spirit with peoples. Remember we have been stuck inside for months so it’s a good positive vibe to see lots of people enjoying something in commun and together. I am not a big fan of football but I will watch it after finish work tonite with few friends…

"Fancy a game of dominoes instead?

perhaps OP is like me and has no sporting hormones at all.

The only things I play are:

Silly buggers

Fast and loose and

Away from home. (but just as easily at home because It is all mine and staying that way).

I don't give a toss about the football and am not even supporting any side through any implied sense of patriotic duty. Something I've heard a lot of recently from others with no interest in football. Why do they feel obliged?

I was merely born, but not raised, in England. Culturally I'm offshore Crown Dependency ex colonial British!

I am fed up of the song but not the football, I have enjoyed this run, maybe it was because of the shit year we have all had that it distracts you away from it for a while plus it puts smiles on some peoples faces.

I would also say the players seem a decent bunch so lets hope they win tonight just don't sing that sodden song !

If we win tonight that song no longer stands, so you should get some respite

To be fair, it wouldn't matter what they or said really would it, some people just don't like the English

Every team gets fans supporting them passionately, England fans do that and it is all too much. Every team fans hope they win/ say they are going to win and that's confidence, England fans do it and they are arrogant.

Suppose they can't win either way

There's never NOT football! It's never not on. If it's not the world cup it's the FA cup or the euro cup or whatever. It utterly permeates the entire social consciousness of UK football fans. I get immense pleasure from watching it along with lots of other sports. It makes me happy.

What sport do you like Op?

Could somebody please explain the significance of 'Sweet Caroline' to football. Is someone in the team called Caroline?

Or is it simply because it is a catchy tune?

… and I’d because of this line too

Sweet Caroline

Good times never seemed so good

Sweet Caroline

I believe they never could

Hopes raised and dashed so many times, you began to believe it will never happen and well got past that semi curse, so yeah times never felt so good right now, family, friends and most the country is swept up a smiling hope and much needed after the last year

Quite a lot of people, going by what I keep hearing in conversations about the series.

People stating that they have no interest in football but will still watch for patriotic reasons.

Surely you have heard similar examples?

If everyone seems so certain that 'it’s coming home', then it seems rather pointless having the match.

Save a load of bother if it is such a foregone conclusion!
