EURO 2020 - The Final : Pasta Masters vs Plucky First Timers

Here we go then. Match 51. The Final.

A long arduous journey reaches its conclusion as the last two teams standing face each other for the ultimate honour : European Champions.

First up are Italy, unbeaten in the tournament with a 100% win record, and famously unbeaten in 33 games. The old past masters of tournament football, 3 times World Cup winners and one time Euros winners playing in their tenth major final!

Playing them tonight and hoping for their first ever Euros trophy are first time Finalists Scotland, who famously qualified for the Final way back on 18th June when they thrashed Auld Enemy England 0-0 at Wembley in the group stage.. eh? Oh!

Just jesting .. it is, of course, Gareth Southgate and his mighty Three Lions in their first major Final for 55 years tonight! And hey, if Lionel Messi can finally win a major International tournament after all these years then so can we!

So who will win? For me it will be a tough game and I really do think that tonight may well be the night that my pathetic Engleesh arrogance can finally be thrown back into my face by the many ‘ABE’s on here (Anyone but England).

It’s going to be a hugely nervy game I think and I can see Italy sneaking a lead and then masterfully closing the game down winning 1-0, ensuring tears of sorrow in Wembley and tears of laughter in Wexford, Wrexham and Wick.

But for my last official Final prediction before I UNLOS altogether from Fab tomorrow (whatever the result) I’m going with my heart: ENGLAND to win and BRING IT HOME!!

2-0 in normal time to spark a party like no other across the land.

What do you think? Where will headlines be made? Will it go to extra time or even penalties?

Where are you watching? Are you lucky enough to have a ticket? I tried and tried but no luck

Whatever you’re doing, wherever you are .. enjoy it.. IT’S COMING HOME!!!

I predict it'll be a game of two halves..

Or four, or both plus pens..

I want us to take two goal lead as if it's as you say Op and Italy go one up they will resort to sitting back and on top of how good they are at that the 'antics' will ramp up several percent and that will frustrate ..

Trying not to watch any media other than listen to good old 6 music till it starts to avoid some of the hype..

And please England fans at the game, respect the Italian anthem..

yes the Italians are one of the best at playing the “game” .. I expect there to be lots of free-kicks, mind games and “antics” as you say from both sides. I think this is an area where England have changed in recent years, Harry Kane as good as anyone at winning a free kick for example!

Let’s hope the referee can see past it all!

It’s going to a tight game. If our players don’t bottle it then I think we will win. Gareth has them ready and I like the way that he’s reconnected the nation with the squad again. For too long it was about the whole circus of WAGS and assorted hangers on. Some players also seemed to bring club rivalries to the national squad.

This group of players are a likeable bunch. They do wonderful work, Rashford, Henderson etc etc. Yes they’re now millionaires but they have not forgotten their roots. Several of them come from a troubled childhood and have made good.

I’m quietly confident that we can do this, it’s not one-eyed arrogance, I just have the feeling that this is our year and our name is on the trophy.

I hope I’m right and I will inevitably cry tears of joy if we win. It’s a huge job but I still believe.

A message from a friend, who has asked me to post this on their behalf! .... COME ON ENGLAND!!!

.

I’m deeply torn about who will win, I fear that it could be a drubbing and a chastening experience for us or if we score first, that might cause Italy problems as they have to chase the game.

They’re both fairly young squads and the occasion may cause some players to go hiding…

I’m not going to predict and I can’t decide between head and heart or even which is which!

I’m proud of our team, they’ve already beaten so many past demons, just this last one to break for immortality.

C’mon England, arise Sir Gareth.

“Once more unto the breach dear friends, once more…

Cry god for Harry, England and Saint George”

The right place

What ever the result let’s hope that domestic violence doesn’t increase.

Sadly recent studies showed that reports of domestic violence increased by 26% whenever England win or draw, and by 38% when the team lost (other studies suggest abuse is worse when England wins).

"Where is Grealish? why is he not on that pitch!!

This even Rashford "

They're not coming on. He's already brought Saka on and he ain't subbing Kane or Sterling off so unless he switches to a more attacking formation (he won't), then that's the front 3 for extra time...
