Yes just out of Hospital after suffering one just over a week ago. So what did I learn from the experience ?
Wow the NHS and the people are amazing, not that I didn’t know that previously, but actually being in the presence of such kind and professional people was humbling. Cleaner to Consultant all I saw were professionals getting on with helping people.
Any serious chest pain needs looking into especially if it lasts more than 15 minutes.
How you can make close friendships with other Men going through the same experience. The fact that they’ll open up about their feelings and fears, which allow you that cathartic empathy over your own fears.
The actual operation it’s-self and the fear you feel prior, told 5% fatal (stent fitted) but 95% with no issues afterwards, but your mind is on the 5%.
Pain, but within your body and you just have to grin and bear it during the op.
Trying not to cry afterwards, when it was successful. But a nurse held my hand and told me it’s not unusual and to let it out, I did.
Those who contact you during your stay, help arrange things you’ll need and volunteer to collect you afterwards and take you home. Yes, discovering who your real friends are.
Look after your hearts guys as I have made a promise to look after mine, after that experience. |

Glad you are on the mend and cannot imagine what you went through
I have a leaky heart valve causing a heart condition and prone to angina attacks when the condition flares
An angina attack is scary enough. The thought of a full on heart attack terrifies me.
Please take it easy x |

It was only a dull ache that wouldn’t go away. I should’ve phoned an ambulance, (I have been told that by several medical professionals this week ) but chose to ignore it and contact my Doctor the next day as it happened early in the morning after work.
If it helps, it didn’t hurt that badly but now I know how it feels I won’t hesitate to phone 999 in future. |

Yes I’m on medication for life now. I must admit that’s the bit that bothers me the most, after getting home. |

I'm glad to hear that you have lived to tell the tale. Sadly it has not always been the case with my family.
One thing I do think needs highlighting is that women often exhibit different heart attack symptoms and signs, as these are less well known, we are more likely to die as a result as they're often not recognised early enough.
But thank goodness for our amazing NHS, one of the, if not the best institutions ever created.
"care provided from cradle to grave, free at the point of delivery, based on need and not the ability to pay"
Amazing. |

It's what I was told too, do as told for now, cultivate a healthy eating and living lifestyle then look at it again in a couple of years |

The ladies ward was just down the corridor and it was full. All of the cardio beds get filled up very quickly after someone leaves. I spoke to one lady who was watching the football with us men that her symptoms had been pain in her back and struggling to breathe.
I treasure our NHS more than ever now. |

Dear steph I am glad you are ok I cam sympathise with you as in 2003 I had 3 heart attacks in a week very scary indeed. I have 3 stents in me but I am here to tell the tale.
I went through a bit of depression afterwards but with the help of family and friends I got through it if you ever need someone to talk to get in touch with me and I am a good listener you will get through it and come out the other side.
My name is Ed btw lots of love |

Thanks Ed, I’m fine now I have always been an optimist due to that, mentally I’ve been ok, so far.
Went out to the Supermarket and back, now feel a bit out of breath.
Time for a lie down |

Just Chest pain, if it had spread I would’ve certainly called for an ambulance. |
