I met someone yesterday who doesn't watch football and did not know England were in the final. Anyone glad that it will soon be all over? I have actually enjoyed it. It's a game for everyone. It's inclusive as it's ever going to get and a game for everyone. Women can watch it too. |

I cannot stand football and haven’t watched any of it. I’d be bored to tears. Wednesday I enjoyed a lovely meal in a really quiet restaurant with a friend and Sunday I’ll do something similar. |

I'm not fussed with football but I do accept it is a popular game and this is a mojor tournament that lots of people are excited about so don't mind it being the subject of every other tnread  |

Yeah, a few of my workmates just simply couldn't give a toss about it which is fine if it's not for them. It does rile me up a bit though when people try to put football fans down for being excited about it when they don't know just big the occasion is for us  |

Except ... the new football season starts in 4 weeks time and pre-season games are already up and running!
So for those that are “England till I die” and not just “England till July” there is literally no gap between football ending and football starting!

There are plenty of things of no interest to me that people can't shut up about, not just for a month every two years, but almost every bloody week. Strictly Dumb Prancing and Britain's Got "Talent" are just two examples. So if those people can't take a bit of enthusiasm about football, well sorry. Not.

Neither of us have any interest in football and how worked up people can get about it is alien to us. However it would be a very dull world if everyone was passionate about the same thing.
I dare say that few people would comprehend the excitement I felt when I treated myself to a new over locker or the way Mr wouldn’t shut up whilst waiting for his new shotgun to arrive.

I’m 100% convinced that people like to declare that they have “no interest at all in football and didn’t even know they were playing” are just doing it to try and sound edgy and “cool” for social media kudos.
How can you not have seen the news? Have literally no interest in what is, whether you like it or not, a piece of history occurring whatever the result tomorrow night.
The final outcome will result (scoreline dependent) in a HUGE national celebration either in England or Italy, parties in the street, massive feelgood factor, unity and joy!
Or maybe you could be sat at home joyless and sucking all the fun out of it just to display some “disinterested chic”  |

I think the biggest secret to avoiding any negativity towards football in general and the tournament specifically might be to focus the conversation on a football forum
I expect there would be similar mixed views on an MTB, crochet or chess forum as there is on a forum focused on causal sex and debauchery
Anyway. End is far from sight. Season will start up again in about 6 weeks, and then there’s the World cup, so the respite will be short lived

I’ll be with my dad on Sunday for the match and I wasn’t looking forward to it, watching the match with him that is, not the spending time part.
But even he as a man that has never liked football is getting into the euphoria of the final, he’s organised the snack / drink menu and apparently even downloaded an England playlist to get us in the mood  .
It is totally that feel good factor, whatever the result, of just enjoying the moment together after a year apart and well a bit of history in the making. |

I know it’s happening, of course I do but I have no interest in football whatsoever and I love sport, football and snooker will never be seen on my telly no matter who is playing and I’m not trying to be “edgy” just telling it as it is.
As for making history check out Mark Cavendish in the TDF, made history yesterday and probably will make some more by the time it finishes in a week or so  |

I’ve heard a few people linking the the Euros (football) to leaving the EU (a well regulated trading bloc).
The UK left a Union. It didn’t leave Europe, which is its physical location. It’s still allowed to have sporting competitions with its neighbours. They aren’t connected so I don’t see the irony.

I'm another football hater.
I could rant about men getting overpaid for kicking a ball around that barely gets in the actual goal. But I won't.
Plus I find it can have quite an effect on a guys mood, be distracting and sex doesn't happen! The only reason why I would want a team to win is so the guy would end up in a good mood instead of bitching about how something should or shouldn't have been allowed for hours on end.
Thank god I'm not with a footy lover anymore. |

I stopped watching league football when I realised that I was watching 22 millionaires kick a ball around a field.
Had they been wearing monocles, top hats and morning suits, I might have reconsidered.
As for the national team, I am not very patriotic I’m afraid, it seems a little redundant to believe that an accident of chance has any relevance.
Having said all that, for all those that follow the football and take joy from it, who am I to judge? All I hope for is a fair game, with no controversy and grace in defeat/victory. |

"Die hard" fans I can't stand. Football truely has the absolute worst, scummiest, evil, vile, low life sub section of fans of any sport in the world, across all countries. It's existence excourages them, so I can't support it. Note: I said sub section, I'm not grouping you all together.
Mix that in with not agreeing with the whole money grabbing system that the sport has become. Face it, with the amount of fake falls and acting that goes on, if you put some of these players in spandex they could show some "pro" wrestlers a thing or two about selling it. Referees are far from impartial most of the time too... So I'm told.
I'd not shed a tear if the entire thing ceased to exist. But people like it so, eh. |

I'm fairly indifferent to football. It hasn't really affected us. We might watch a bit of the final, but we're going to be at an opera which starts an hour before kick-off. I hope there's not much crossover between football and opera audiences or it's not going to be well attended. |

A lot of women, Need the Football for Women Book from Father Ted lol. Joking aside. I can understand why people don't like football. Club football has got obscene with the money on transfers and who has the biggest bank balance usually wins.
However International Football has no transfers at all. Pick the best 23 players to represent your country and see how far you can go with them. Also England players don't get paid to represent the national side all call up fees are given directly to charity instead. |

You’re 100% wrong regarding me.
The sound of a football crowd makes me very nervous. My experiences of my dad watching football when I was a child were frightening and still with me to this day.
I was dragged to a match when I was very young and I found the whole thing terrifying.
It was the peak of football hooliganism and I think it was Milwall fighting Tottenham, if my traumatised memory serves.
It’s not history. It’s sport’s history. It’s not news. It’s sports news.
I don’t watch tv but I do usually watch sky news and, for now, I’m avoiding that too as I want to avoid the inane drivelling about this stupid game.

I think Guy Martin summed it up nicely when he said 'it is wasteful losing 2 hours of my life to watch 22 millionaires on TV chasing a bag of wind in their underwear.'
It isn't history, as it isn't the world cup. If the team win this thing, they still haven't won a world cup since 1966.
History is being made. Mark Cavendish has equalled Eddy Merckx total number of stage wins, who was considered the greatest cyclist of the past 40 years. |

Why is the alternative to watching football “being at home joyless”? For some of us, it’s just a normal Sunday (I’ll most likely be working then eating with friends) |

There are multiple major championships and winning one is history. I know nothing about cycling but take your Mark Cavendish example. It's like saying him winning a gold medal at the Olympics isn't history because he hasn't won a Tour De France. Don't belittle an achievement just because you don't like the sport. |

I couldn’t care less about football (or any of the other sports that are being flogged to death at the moment), nor the endless post-match critiques. If England wins tomorrow it’ll be tedious seeing all the reruns and bleating about how great we are for winning two finals in 55 years…
Give me a good old war film showing proper heroes any day!
Having said that, it’s been a tough sixteen months, so it’s nice to see some excitement and friendly patriotism. |
