Has anyone on here had this for trouble with their bleeding?
I've been given it as a temporary measure while I wait for a scan to see if they will give me a hysterectomy.
I've done nothing but bleed since having it...and I have had a headache from hell....
Please tell me it gets better
Thanks x |

Glad the Mirena worked for you. I tried it years ago for contraception but it made me horribly depressed, AND I got mega hairy legs! |

Ring your GP and check! They are the best people to talk to as they have your medical history at hand. Fab users are not really best placed to answer your medical question |

I had Prostap injections which are similar (but also used for treating Prostate cancer).
Every 28 days for 2.5 years until I got my hysterectomy. Tried the 12 weekly one but only lasted for 6 weeks. They were amazing!! I was also put on Tibolone which is a progesterone HRT tablet

I totally get what you’re saying , but unfortunately, GP training falls woefully short in areas such as these, most of them have absolutely no clue, I’ve found I’ve found more information on forums/support groups, with women who’ve experienced it
If men suffered with these problems, it would be a different matter, but it’s such a non area when it comes to training and GP knowledge. |

I disagree Hippy….. I was involved with zoladex at one point but not for this purpose but the training provided by AZ is second to none and nurses have to know the clinical background of it. It just a case of seeking the right person at the practice. I still say your GP surgery is the first port of call |

Fab users are not really best placed to answer your medical question " not asking for medical advice, more real life experience. It's alright my doctor giving me a list of possible side effects.. what I want to know ( and have had some amazing responses) is experiences of actually having this ... like with anything else. The support groups are normally much more help than even the best gp |

"I've just been prescribed tranexamic acid for similar symptoms. I hope your injection works x" tried this first, I've also had the ablation I think it is, where they burn the lining away... didnt help for more than 2 months. Tried the implant, the mini pill...
Been refused the hysterectomy numerous times despite them saying it would be the only thing that would stop my issues... refusals have been too young... too single ( what if I met someone and wanted more kids) too fat.... this time they have said as long as my scan shows an issue they will give it me( which dont think my cysts, endometriosis or other issues will have disappeared.... )
Been told to lose as much weight as possible between now and the end of sept when they make their decision |

I used to have really heavy bleeding and pain so bad I’d sometimes go into shock. I had endometriosis and fibroids. I spoke with a specialist nurse and she told me about a Novasure ablation. It’s like having a hysterectomy but without a major surgery. I had no more bleeding no more pain no more problems ever since. I think it was speaking with another woman that worked for me as the male consultant I spoke to before that was dismissive. |

Ablation is not necessarily recommended, it can cause more damage than it cures at times. |
