So

I got the mixed fish out of the freezer last night ,to defrost in the fridge, thinking that I would make fish pie for dinner tonight. Only to realise, this afternoon, that I don’t have any potatoes

I can’t go shopping, as I’m stuck in isolating, so what do you clever people suggest I make with it instead?

Eagerly awaiting your fabulous suggestions.

Make some pastry and have that sort of pie instead?

Can you make pastry? That also works to top a fish pie.

Oh I think the kids might go for fish nuggets. Do you think they could be oven baked or shallow fried?

We were fairly poor growing up, but we did occasionally have “fish pie” which is nothing like I’ve ever seen anywhere else.

It would be boiled rice with a tin of pilchards mixed into it, a tin of plum tomatoes and covered in cheese to form a crust when baked in the oven

Tastes better than it sounds

If you have a bag of crisps crush them up and put them over the top. Sounds weird but it's how one of my mates makes it and it does work.

Otherwise I've made fish pie pasta bake before now, it doesn't look the most appetizing but it tastes good.

Mixed fish risotto - that's if you have rice?

If you're cooking for kids, flour, egg, rice crispies and bake in the oven. Theyre lovely, mine loved when they they were little.

Cook it with chopped tomatoes olives and Italian spices and eat it with pasta.

Or try a quick Paella, cook rice in chicken stock, add chopped onions, pepper and celery, fry the fish slightly in a pan and add the rice and vegetables and add spices to taste

Thai green or Japanese Katsu is perfect for fish. Not to strong and you just heat up tge curry and chuck in the fish. Done in 5 mins and all in one pan! Best with noodles if you have them.

A pasty on top of fish. That's a quality idea.
