Going on a bike trip to Wales intending to climb to the top off Snodon  i did Ben Nevis last year, god that was hard four and a half hours up and around three to get back down. so anyone else been brave enough to do either of the mountains ? |

When I was a lot younger (still at school) we went up snowdon in two hours and came down in 45 minutes.
Wouldn't dream of trying that now.
Average time is three hours up, two hours back.

I've never seen the point in mountaineering. Why climb all the way to the top of a big hill only to get there, have a quick look around - at nothing - and then have to climb all the way down again. A helicopter ride could accomplish the same thing in minutes. |

Did Snowdon when I was about on a school Outdoor Pursuits trip. Remember it being tougher going than I expected, but did Mount Sinai a few years ago and that was a lot harder. Specially with camels breathing down your neck - literally!
As for 'Snodon'....... is that a new Welsh mountain then.....?

Yeah good point. I hate hills let alone mountains! My doctors is at the top of a hill. I dread getting ill, I'm at deaths door by the time I get there! |

Good for you - hope you enjoyed it and dodged the bad weather!
I'm a biker too, though I could chuck a stone at Snowdon from where I live.. I often walk the hills nude as well...
Got to say though, I've been looking at the mountains for so long that I just love to get on the bike and ride to somewhere flat.....

yep done them several times, even ran up those 2 and scafell also as a younger man..
what pisses me off severely is the muppets who venture up without even the basic level of proper clothing...
