Girlsss how do you like your nails? I keep mine naturally medium length.. I love shimmery nail polish, I’m obsessed with one from Barry M and it’s like pearly and shiny. Tho I think I’m gonna get them done white today as I love the contrast with my skin!!
Does anyone use acrylics or stuff like that? I don’t particularly like long long nails as I find them super uncomfortable to do anything. I play the piano so they would click on the keys and it’s a no from me… |

Mine are fairly long, I have a layer of acrylic over the top of my own nails to keep them strong and a gel polish, they stay lovely for 4 weeks. Been going to same nail place over 10 years, it's my monthly treat

Acrylics, long, coffin shape but sometimes I have almond shape. Gel top coat so they don’t chip and last the month before needing infills. My nails grow super slow.
Occasionally if I can’t get to the salon for a while I will have short nails and gel them myself as I have the kit at home. Normally gel my own toe nails. |

I've always had quite short nails - a couple of decades playing the violin and it became habit for me.
Right now I'm trying to grow them and I quite like them - they are probably mid length? I like dark colours - like a nice matte black as a nod to my emo days. Most of the time I go for a pale pink or a light caramel shade. |

It’s kind of a bummer for those who play instruments generally haha so I feel ya!

Every couple of years I have them done. Square-ish kinda shape, French polish thingy where they glue the tips on so they look kinda natural but clean ya know? Fresh.
I love it for the first week but then I'm all "why did I do that?" When they start to grow and you can see they're not my own. And then I'm really "why the fuck did I do that?!!!" when I see the state of my real nails once they're off.
Mine are normally short n dark plum or black, or nothing at all |

Haha I get it, also my nails grow pretty quickly to the point that it shows the growth after a week so I need to repaint them |

I like simple nails day to day. I usually just have a pearl white/pink colour. I like them a natural short length as I hate long fake nails. I love a simple French manicure.
I always paint my toes vivid colours though. I think at the moment they are a deep navy blue. |

I do my own gel nails, so a variety of all colours depending on my mood but seeing as I spend a lot of time typing I tend to keep them medium length.
I would have loved to have been a nail technician |

"It’s kind of a bummer for those who play instruments generally haha so I feel ya!"
OMG, I was chatting to another customer at a nail bar once, she looked so happy and said she loves it but rarely get it done. "Oh why?" I quipped, if you love it?"
"Oh, I'm a nurse, so can't but I'm going on holiday and will enjoy them for two weeks."
I was so sad for her but also so grateful for her and the NHS. |

I like mine just to the edge of my fingers but they grow real fast, however if I break one at work then they all get filed the same length, on the odd occasion I wear a colour then it has to be OPI |

"Short and chipped with soil underneath usually. I don't have much in the way of options as a gardener, any manicures and polish would be ruined."
Nowt wrong with that. I like a woman who doesn't mind getting her hands dirty |

I started to grow mine (was hard as i used to bite them, managed to kill that habit though) . They are short to medium length.
But im going to have to cut them short i think. I started a new job doing gardening. I have gone through two pairs of gloves while ing as i put holes in them.Plus dirt getting underneath isnt nice |

"Short and emeried smooth no sharp ragged edges "
Now that would be a good thread title... I have had an "experience" not long ago that left me with multiple minor injuries because someone did not have a clue that us women are soft on the inside... Seriously!!!
Well done you for being considerate. |

I can actually answer this I always thought that the cuticle was the skin on your finger that always rips and gets caught on things but I was wrong
So you have:
a free edge - the bit where the tip/end of your nail meets your finger
the side walls - the bit at the side of your finger nail that is a bastard to paint because it gets flooded easily
Cuticle - the bit at the base of the nail where the growth happens and the nail meets the skin. This is the bit that gets pushed back with a pusher during the prep part of a manicure and you’ll often find dead skin and protein growth there. That’s the part that requires lots of attention because if you skip that stage you’ll get lifting, chipping or really shit adhesion if you have acrylics
