"It's spelt touché because that's how it's spelt.
How you pronounce it is down to how dumb or educated you are "
You probably need to read the question again, the options were touchy or touchet. |

"You are correct.
If you Google the word it will give you the option to hear the pronunciation of the word "
We both refuse to Google out of principle, but thank you for the advice. |

Why Google when you have a whole forum to do it for you? |

Touchè is a term used in fencing, to indicate a hit has been made.
It's also means a good humoured acknowledgement of a remark in either an argument or conversation.
The word has French origins to describe being touched.
It's pronounced like. to-shay

To-shay, two-shay or similar are just examples on how to pronounce it.
Oh, it's having a duel with the annoying lad living above you! |

I don’t understand how you managed to type it correctly (touché), but then argued against yourself by stating you thought it was spelled differently!
You’ve totally twisted my melon! |

Agreed. He got it correct, then shot himself in the foot with options.
Maybe, steering clear of his workmate would be a good idea! |

Both touchy and touchet are incorrect spelling. Touché is correct... |

Touché is spelt touché.
Touchy is touching someone
Touchet isn’t even a word
So you’re both wrong at how you spell it, unless you was asking how you sat it? It’s pronounced two-shay |

May I remind people there are only two possible options for how the word touché is spelt.
A. Touchy - pronounced twoochay
Or
B. Touchet - pronounced tooochay

It’s spelt touché and the accent (‘aigu’ in this case) on the e determines how it’s pronounced. It’s certainly not touchay as it would be spelt touchè (accent grave).
However I’d be at a loss trying to tell you how to pronounce é (accent aigu) because of my own accent and the fact that I can’t pronounce English properly.
To the best of my knowledge, touchet only exists as a proper noun hence should take a capital t.
Class dismissed! |

"Touchet! But the t is silent obviously "
The t is not silent in this case. It often is at the end of French words but not here. It’s not pronounced like a t but it alters the way you pronounce the e in front. Et actually sounds exactly like é or ez or er. |

Then if those are the only options then they’re both wrong
Don’t think it was worth a warning though haha |
