Yes I am! And it hurts....Was wondering if your body can reject metal implants years later?
Broke my ankle 10 years ago and had to have it internally fixated with Titanium plates and pins. All fine up until this week.
The site is swollen and painful, and I can feel swelling under the skin at the place where the plate is, it's also itchy.
Going to try and see the Dr tomorrow but overthinking all kinds of scenarios
I work long hours and is on my feet for the best part of 10 hours a day so could be that.
Feeling very grumpy about it all...so if you can't offer advice then wishes of cake and jokes will be very welcome

I have a couple of plates and screws down by my ankle, some of which are barely under the skin. I am usually in constant pain and discomfort with them, but find the weather really dials it up.
I see no reason why your body couldn’t reject them, so it is worth getting it checked out, but when I asked to have mine removed was told they would only do it if I were a professional sportsman |

There and to the left a bit |
Just read an article having Googled that suggests it's definitely possible and is known as hypersensitivity - although there could be other causes, might be worth mentioning to the Doc though - hope the pain eases soon |

I've got titanium in my spine. I've never experienced what you describe but if I put pressure on my spine by carrying something heavy for instance I can feel it and the site becomes uncomfortable. I wonder if you've put too much pressure on it or maybe v have an infection. |

Ouch that sounds nasty.
I've always been able to feel it there and it is feelable under the skin
This is what I reckon, I just don't stop at work

I had a plate removed from my jaw 20 years after the surgery, by a French surgeon. The site never healed and would "flare up" once a year.
UK surgeons wouldn't touch it even though they caused the trouble. Go private if possible as it could spread and is quite dangerous. |

Have you banged that area recently? I sometimes need to click my wrist when I feel it tighten up after it has been over used (no jokes, I mean as in day to day use, you filthy buggers!).
Mind you, having a plate with several screws put in under local anaesthetic was a novel experience! Felt my actual skeleton vibrate as they used a black and decker drill on me… |

Oh goodness, no not banged it, it has always felt stiff but never painful.
I did not feel that thank goodness, or if I did I don't remember. Yep the tools they use are exactly what you would find in a mechanics workshop.
The surgeon showed me everything he was going to use and I jokingly said "like glorified DIY, I bet you are great at putting shelves up"
He then joked about meccano sets and not having many pieces left over
I did ask that he keep talking to me whilst I was under, tell me jokes and sing a song, not sure if he did though |

I had a telephone appointment, the Dr is booking me in for an Xray and Physio. She said I shouldn't be in pain with it and it shouldn't be swollen so we will see |

I had headphones on, turned right up so I couldn’t hear anything. However, at one point I had to skip a song and knocked the pulse monitor off my finger accidentally. Within two seconds, a very worried looking nurse appeared in my vision (I was clamped down to minimise movement) as they thought I had died! |
