What have you learned this week that is worth sharing?
Whether it be a useless but interesting factoid, or a helpful practical "I was today old when I found out...", share the wealth! |

"Here to learn useless factoids
you must have one to chip in?!"
But you said it had to be this week, I can’t think of anything in particular I’ve learnt.
I’m following the rules |

"I just learned that the age old phrase: blood is thicker than water' means the opposite of what I thought it meant.
" oooh, please explain! (cos I thought I knew what it meant and now I doubt myself!!) |

The original phrase is...
'The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb'
Which, I think, means: your brothers in arms are more important than your milk brothers.... or loyalty over family.. or something

I must not try to help fledgling blackbirds on the ground. Their parents have usually kicked them out and will still feed them.
I did watch this going on for days and every now and then ran into the garden going ....... Rarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Get lost Cat ....... No No......
Or banged on the window instead.....
I hope the little fugger learns to fly soon ... |

I learnt 'ambivalent' doesn't mean 'not bothered'. It actually means 'simultaneous conflicting feelings' (from a German word).
Although I do think common usage as 'not bothered'/'couldn't care' is how it's mostly used. |

Fuck, I hope that's not from first hand experience, and if it is, I hope they're OK and recovering. Hugs all round if so |

"I learnt that you can reverse percentages to make them easier to work out.
14% of 50 is 7
50% of 14 is 7"
I will be toying with this and a calculator later!! |

"That some men arrange wanking groups.
Like meeting up watching some porn and wank altogether in a little circle?
"
I've lived a sheltered life... not sure I want to know! (code for; I knew that) |

It took an embarrassing amount of time before I realised you were not in fact talking about someone from New Zealand... |

I think but am not totally sure that disinterested is closer to what people actually mean when they say ambivalent... Like a judge is meant to be disinterested in a case brought before them. |

"Today I learned that this ?! is a genuine piece of punctuation called an interrobang.
It was invented in the 1960s by a journalist called Martin Speckter."
an interrobang?! sounds like a means of questioning whilst fucking! Good factoid though, what was Speckters reason for inventing it?! |

It was to signify an excited utterance or a rhetorical question. Who isn't a fan of an excited utterance?!
I'd quite like to take part in an interrobang. |
