If, and I do mean if, England and Italy get to the final. Anyone can beat each other in a one off game.

Italy hasn't lost a game in over 12 games.

Might be going to Copenhagen or Madrid as things stand - they played well tonight and should be rightly proud and we should have hope, but Denmark won't be easy to beat and have their own omens too - so I'm not counting any chickens

Italy have the quality to beat anyone on their day if their players are allowed to play.

England have the ability to deny anyone their ability to play when England are at their best.

The difference is Italy don't have game changers in their ranks off the bench when they are stifled. England do.

I would fancy England to win at Wembley narrowly, if they get there. Don't underestimate the power of the crowd influence....

While in theory I agree, and Spain haven't been great, in a one off game anything can happen and it only takes Italy to have a bad game and Spain to up theirs and it could happen

I think that Italy last night looked like world beaters and I couldn’t see past them.

However, upon reflection, I wonder if the type of possession football that Spain play might prevent Italy from their normal game, making it a much more difficult task for them.

If it’s Spain in the final, with their issues in front of goal and out defence, I think we’d take it

Like Southgate, keeps his feet on the ground and respects his opposition. Expect England to be in the final but the Danes won't be a push over

Exactly and let's not forget they beat us, at Wembley, in October last year - not saying they will do so again, just being my usual pragmatic self

As a Scot I think England should be optimistic at the least, a lot of talent from midfield to front, defence is good. Best chance for you to win the Euros with the final being at Wembley. Southgate keeps the team grounded and doesn't get carried away which is a good thing.England v Italy final. Could go either way.

I think it’s going to Rome the two Italy centre backs Chiellini & Bonucci are two of the best in the world even though they have a combined age of 70 and I think this will be their moment

It's there to win, but there are no opponents as weak as Ukraine left. Italy are excellent, and play beautifully, but Belgium were all over them in the 2nd half. Spain or Italy will show us how good we really are.

England hasn’t conceded a goal in 5 games, that’s a first for the Euros

Shouldn't England's semi final and final be held at a neutral country in the balance of fairness.

It’s just how it’s worked out.

Host countries do tend to do better and several have won their own tournaments, it’s not a matter of fairness at this level.

Although I do dislike how some teams had to travel so far and others not at all, there hasn’t even been an attempt at parity at this point

Slightly surprising no host country has won Euros since France in 1984, and in last 40 years France are also the only host to win their World Cup (1998) !

Can someone explain why they decided to do it all over Europe this time round instead of picking a nation??

As a celebration for the anniversary of the forming of UEFA I believe. Next time it will be back to an individual nation in Germany

Thanks for the clarification makes sense but yeah I think it must have been unfair to some people traveling all the way to Baku while other might have barely gone anywhere lol

Nope, I just think that it’s unfair for some teams to remain static whilst others travelled thousands of miles.

Note how the 4 semi finalists are all teams that played all of their group games at home?
