EURO 2020 R16 Day 3: A World Cup Final Replay?

Congrats to the Czech Republic and Belgium who are both safely through to the weekends Quarter Finals after yesterday’s games and it’s a sad farewell to the Netherlands and holders Portugal who head home with their dreams dashed in the Round of 16.
Two more Quarter Finalists will be secured tonight: first up at 5pm it’s World Cup Runners Up Croatia against fancied Spain and then at 8pm World Cup Winners France play Switzerland.
Two good match ups and the two winners tonight will play each other in St Petersburg on Friday - potential for a replay of the World Cup Final depending on results.
I can’t see past France in their game, will be huge upset if they lose to Switzerland, and I think Spain, who finally found form and hit 5 goals in their last group game of course, will have too much for Croatia who finished runners up in England’s group.
I’m going for:
Croatia 1-2 Spain 5pm
France 3-0 Switzerland 8pm

Crazy that one of England, Germany, Denmark, Czech Republic, Sweden or Ukraine are guaranteed to be in the Final. Even allowing for the Germans not many would have thought that before the tournament started. |

Tickets to the semi-finals and final are on the UEFA ticket portal now ... I took a wild gamble and bought the SF for the England / Germany / Sweden / Ukraine route rolling the dice that England might get there (that was fucking foolish, right?) and also had a Final ticket in my basket before chickening out of that one as they only had Cat 1 Final tickets left.... way too pricey for a gamble! Hopefully more Cat 3’s will come available in the run up to the Final .. |
