Simple pleasures in life
Jump to: Newest in thread
Crabbing is one of life's most fantastic pleasures and I could happily spend ages with my legs dangling over a harbour wall, with a pasty watching the world go by.
Am I on my own or do others enjoy the simple things in life.
Ps what's your favourite crabbing hot spot |

Cycling long distances and wild camping, waking up to the bird's singing and packing up to the next destination. I made it from milton keynes to Cornwall and back. |

Watching birds on the feeder.
Bees buzzing around from flower to flower.
Butterlfies being the scatty little beauties they are.
Children showing compassion and having manners.
Flowers.
Human kindness.
Fresh bedding.
Baby animals. |

How big is that pasty if it last hours?
I love going for walks in new places and finding a nice quiet spot to sit and do some writing with my trusty travel mug and some treats |

Reading.
Staring out the window at the garden.
Dead heading roses.
Lying in bed listening to the sounds outside.
Vaping while enjoying the quiet.
'Messages' turning yellow. |

A curry lunch at the local Indian community centre followed by a pint and a nap.
Afternoon cimena.
An outdoor/wild swim.
The first cup of tea in the morning.
Going to the arcades at the seaside, exchanging one whole pound into 2ps and going on the sliders.
Sitting in the park with friends on a sunny day having a food bring and share and sharing a glass of wine. |

"Same and rock pooling and pond dipping but the favourite is hand feeding the small birds. All with my school aged daughter. "
Did this when I was young feeding ducks …. A swan came and bit my fingers
Feathery bastards |

Not been crabbing for years!
I love simple things;
Walking on the shoreline
Splashing in puddles
Kicking up the leaves in autumn
Balancing on the kerbstones
Trying to catch snowflakes
Making daisy chains and leaf crowns
Randomly dancing wherever I am if I hear a good song (cinema corridor last night)
And across the shiny floor of the Imax lobby (Manager came along and started dancing with me!)

Well, I certainly have a hankering for some fresh crab now...
Simple pleasures for me are watching my dogs interact
Pottering about in the garden.
Panning for gold, enjoying the sights, sounds and smells |

Singing various musicals to my eternally suffering partner.
Reading a new book with a mug of hot chocolate.
Having my hair brushed and trying to not start giggling.
Letters from friends on weird and wonderful postcards they've found. |

I just love sitting playing guitar along with the radio while having a drink.
I spend hours just randomly playing along working out chords, melodies and counter melodies as i go. |

Last summer when things started getting better I tried skydiving, and let me tell you, when that chute opens after the deafening roar of the air ripping past your ears during free, the absolute silence that follows is the most incredible sensation in the world. It like being submerged in peace. |

I suppose it may not be a "simple pleasure", although to me it is...playing computer games.
Strategy games in particular.
Current game is a survival game, where you have to fend for yourself in a hostile environment from external factors (zombies, wild animals, other players, environment), or deal with internal factors (exhaustion, starvation, illness).
It's a constant battle to stay alive in the game and I find that very cathartic. It feels like it has "purpose" and something to strive against and work towards.

cont
But simple pleasures ? Well...
I used to get dragged off to the seaside as a kid and plonked on the beach. Bored me shitless.
Dad :"Throw the ball to your cousin"
Me : "Why ?"
Dad : "So he can catch it and throw it back to you."
Me : "If it's coming back to me, why bother throwing it away in the first place?"
Dad : "Because your cousin wants it."
Me : "Then he can have it then. Just give it to him"
Dad : "But he wants to throw it to you"
Me : "Why does he want to throw it to me ?"
Dad : "So you can catch it."
Me : "But I know how to catch. I learned that when I was like 5. I'm 10 now. Not a baby anymore."
Dad : "It's a game, for God's Sake"
Me : "Only if both participants are willing. I am not willing."
Dad ..whispering under his breath..."fcking little shit"
Me : "This little shit is going to be in the amusement arcade. Being more amused with Space Invaders than a plastic blow-up beach ball. Yo Cuz, let me show you this amazing computer game and as you are older than me, you can keep an eye on me if you must"
..Storms off with Cuz in tow..
God I was a terror. Such happy days at the seaside |
