Congrats to Denmark and Italy on their progression to the Quarter Finals next weekend after their wins yesterday, and commiserations to Wales and Austria who are going home with their heads held high.
Today sees the next 2 “Round of 16” games (I never fully understand why they aren’t the Eighth-Finals but hey..) with Netherlands v Czech Republic at 5pm, then arguably the tie of the round Belgium v defending Champions Portugal at 8pm. One of the fancied teams guaranteed to exit the tournament in that one, and it’s a really tasty contest for sure!
Will we see the first nail biting penalty contest of the tournament tonight?
Will we see Ronaldo in tears?
My predictions are:
Netherlands 3-1 Czech Republic
Belgium 2-1 Portugal AET
What do you think? Where will the headlines be made tonight? |

"Netherlands & Belgium to go through."
I think so too, but looking forwards it would be nice for the Czechs to win .. should England be fortunate enough to progress to the semis (yeah, yeah I know .. very ambitious!) |

I think that today is the day that Belgium need to step up and prove that No1 status.
They’re a great team on paper but the lack of a trophy is a big question mark still.
Netherlands 2 - Czech rep 1
Belgium 2 - Portugal 2 aet (Belgium on pens) |

Can't call the Belgium v Portugal. Portugal have a knack of when it matters.
The Dutch should sail thro. I think this has been one of the most open competitions as nobody is yet to stand out. The Italians 34 unbeaten but for me unconvincing. Austria pushed them all the way |

Carvalios bollocks deserved stamping on. . The thinking man's Norman hunter.... He was a dirty mauling bastard " still rooneys petulant stamp deserved a red and tbh most Man Utd fans at that time didn’t have the time of day for England hence the chant about Ronaldo making England look shite |

Is he an ugly crier tho?
Oh Kylie, everything about him is ugly!
Does this hatred stem from his success with united "
Gosh, no! Not at all! I may be from Merseyside, but I don't subscribe to the notion that I must, therefore, despise Manchester United.
I just think he's an arrogant, annoying, prick of a man |

Fair enough. I agree there is an air of arrogance, petulance and aloofness about the bloke. But to be the top athlete in any sport I think it kind of goes with the territory. I'm a red and had the same opinion.... But then when you start to look into his millions to charity and funding of various orphanages and children's hospitals in various countries it made me think again |

Not at all - you can be truly great at sport and not lose yourself in your "greatness". Djokevic, Nadal, Chris Froome, Linaker, Klinsman. The list goes on.
The charitable causes are worthwhile, of course they are. But that doesn't make him any more likeable to me, I'm afraid. |

A few years ago I would have agreed with you but saw him in a different light after singlehandedly dragging Portugal to a 3:3 with Spain at the last world cup.
Anyway,Ronalado score first...is possible |

Looked to me like most of the play was in the Austrian half, with the defending. |

60,000 in again in Budapest, no social distancing or segregation at all. Thousands of Dutch and Czech visitors.
Yesterday Wales only had a handful of fans allowed to be in attendance in Amsterdam |

Got to admit I fell behind a little bit with mine but had a mass catch up session so now fully up to date again.

If you are England/Germany right now and your route to the final is Sweden/Ukraine in the quarter’s and Denmark/Czech rep. In the semi…. You have to think you have won the lottery! |

Yep, on paper if the Czechs hold on then the winner on Tuesday has an excellent chance of making the Final. If only football was played on paper, mind! |

I thought it was England’s year at the World Cup in 2018 when our side of the draw opened wide up.. we all know what the Croats did after we led 1-0 at HT in the semi.
I can’t dare to dream this year as I know the Germans are so spawny that they’ll no doubt do us over! |

Not all, but it’s best to not get too excited. Get past the old nemesis then maybe just a little, but come on it’s England we always mess up |

Would be nice to see a Portugal win here tbh, purely to eliminate Belgium to ease England’s* glorious ascent to the Championship.
