To visit? And why?

I live in Scotland now, but im originally from Lincolnshire. Every year I still take our children to Skegness/Mablethorpe area for a holiday. I like the good old fashioned seaside holiday, the thrill of the rides & smell of fish & chips in the air. Do others take their family to a favourite childhood holiday destination in the uk?

(We still have a holiday abroad but I'm thinking out loud about uk childhood holiday's)

I don't have a favourite childhood UK holiday destination as most of my family holidays growing up were abroad.

So I'll have to go with The French Riveira.

"Cornwall even.."

I would love to go south, but we have 4 children, to far to drive.

I'll leave them at home with my husband and I'll come away with you. Sorted

I lived abroad as a child so my holidays were always to visit family in Yorkshire so don't have a favourite childhood holiday as such.

I don’t have a favourite place but I always went to south Devon as a kid in the summer holidays visiting family. Newton abbot, Dawlish Warren, Babbacombe, Torquay, Paignton some lovely places near the sea

I live in the Midlands but two of my current favourite places are the Windermere and Keswick areas of the Lake District, plus Ullapool in Scotland

Need to try a few other places in time, though, including the North Yorkshire Dales

On a mooch

From a kid and still love it now, it is the hills of Scotland, the Lakes or the Yorkshire moors. Love the scenery, with very fond memories of those past every time I visit

North Devon is favourite part because I have spent so much time there with so many great memories.

But England, Scotland and Wales have some stunning places, we couldn't afford foreign holidays so drove all over this beautiful nation.

As a child I lived on a small island which was idyllic. It must have had a real impact on me as I love holidaying in the Western Isles. We've taken the kids camping a few times but now they're grown up we're more likely to be on our own now.

Next month, though, we're going to be in Kintyre. Not been there before xx

The bit I went to was not beautiful rolling hills unless you count coal pits and slag heaps as beautiful (this was the 70s and they were not the grassed over mounds they are now)
