Really tongue in cheek but how do you deal with poor hosts?!

I stayed at my mums last night and her spare room is her 'dressing room' with all her lotions and potions in.

So despite me still being in bed she's faffing in, sitting on the bed (which means her dog is on the bed), chatting away narrating her whole life (shal I put my make up on? I'm only sitting on the living room. But what if I get a zoom call?)

It's only 7 flipping 30!

Tbh OP you should cherish those moments. There will come a time when you would do anything to have that time with your mum again.

The right place

Hosting immediate family is a bit different to hosting friends. Family can fend for themselves a bit more

I do really. It just amuses me that she had no ability to modify her behaviours when she has guests. No consideration for being quiet if they're still sleeping after a long journey yo see her etc.

She maybe wants her families company, 7.30am, most of the country is up. Go give her a good morning hug & kiss and let us know how big her smile is. Weve had an horrific 18 months, this is precious time, wish I had a mum, try not be so irritated with her bless x

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

My nephews do that to me whenever I stay at their house. By which I mean they burst in at 6am, followed by 3 dogs, all of whom leap on the bed. They are only kids though so it is acceptable.

On a less happy note, my mother woke me up at 7am too.... she rang me and told me today would be a very good day for me to kill myself. Lovely woman she is

Can u just add. She knows we take the piss out of this about her. She's lived alone for many years and is set in her ways and of she wants to do something at a certain time then she does it, regardless of if she has company or not.

In fact, even when we were kids she'd be hoovering at 6:30 in the morning and all our friends thought she was bonkers.

I'm off on a cruise with her later this year and the top joke with my family is how she will be in the morning, trying to be quiet as ill have a hangover but popping in and out of the balcony 15 times!

It's all in jest really.

Sorry to hear that. I get regular calls from my mum to say she's dying and not to worry about her. Eventually for your own protection you go

I think the op has made I'd clear that she loves and appreciates her mum.
