I'm one of those whose physical environment is chaotic so keep tight control what I can of my electronic one (at work and private).

So any moribund PMs here, exchanges of a couple of messages then no further, to the bin with you!

What do you do, hoard them like Smeagol, or just cast them aside like a used Kleenex?

"Huh?"

Sorry. Less verbosely, do you keep messages when they're past their use by date or keep your inbox just for people who are actively engaging?

Every now and then I go through my messages and bin old ones that fizzled out.

I keep those from forum users so I know what we last spoke about

I currently have 9 unread messages I'm about to deal with.

Well yeah I wasn't humble bragging, mine's not in need of super-regular gardening, but I do like to put feelers out and sometimes people respond.

It's good to be able to tell the difference between a polite response and actual interest though.

I currently have 746 unread. May hide my profile for a while and go through them. Most will likely be deleted as they are outside my age range or haven't read my profile x

I think that's the order of magnitude of stuff to deal with that some of us impatient guys really don't imagine, consider or understand when we're fuming about why that ***** is ignoring me

I'll do weekly clear outs. Keep some that aren't ongoing conversations and always keep the people I chat to regularly.

"Would be nice to get a message"

Would it need to be a potential meet or just a chat message ?

A chat message would be nice. Better if it led up to a meet after.

Messages are deleted once they have passed their use by date so to speak. If we want to keep a record of something that was said or done then we use the private note facility.

Only emails in our inbox are those which are currently active conversations.

I open all messages so the number unread doesnt pile up, but unless its someone I already speak too or know or about forum stuff Im afraid it probably just sits getting ignored till fab deals with it for me. I do ask not to get messages, so people are forewarned.

The only time it was a problem was when I somehow messaged to message myself and I couldn’t delete it, it was sat there for months doing my fucking scone in, it’s gone now, so calm is restored, till I accidentally do it again like a massive plum.

I keep on top of it at the moment so never have more than 20. I skip through to make sure it’s not someone I know and then just mass delete
