I lost my last 2 dogs a couple of years ago & my cats had to stay with my ex, as he kept the house when we split last year. I love the freedom of not having to think about anything if I decide to go away from my flat for any length of time.

They sure are,

We already had a boy cat who was a great comfort to us, we've just rescued a female cat and she's already making us smile everyday too.

I wouldn't be without pets.
