.. and other reflective surfaces
(I'm not entirely sure where i am going with this thread btw.. it's just ramblings... HAHA)
I often feel that my mood changes because of them.. I can try clothes on and feel incredible and then i look into a mirror and feel shit because they don't show me how i feel.
I own several mirrors around my home and won't get rid of them because in the same vain if i don't like something its a gentle reminder that i do perhaps need to adjust and modify things so i can like how i look more.
So guys and girls.. Do you think the world would be a better place with or without mirrors?

With mirrors I d say - I can check BEFORE going out, whether I have my skirt tucked into my knickers (yep, that has happened!)
Also, I think people's reaction to me as a person are a kind or mirror even if it is not shiny or completely accurate.
We live with reflections of ourselves, don't we?
And yes, sometimes I don't like what I see in the mirror... but it is temporary. |

"I've nothing against mirrors, just the reflection in it first thing in the morning "
So if you covered the mirror up and didnt see yourself would you generally be more positive do you think? x |

The thing is with me is acceptance .. I don't like my face and I don't like looking at it , but I've long since accepted its the only one I have so fuck it . I mainly look at my arse now, it's prettier |

The reflection in the mirror is more than your physical appearance though. It's your mood on that day, your emotional state, a Tuesday. Lots of things make up how we see each other.
I don't shy away from them. In fact I'll focus on what I like. My outfit, my hair, my legs in that skirt, changes I can see in me. |

Being Autosexual I adore mirrors, however I understand that lots do have some issues. It's important they're placed correctly so the light is hitting it from the front and not side daytime.
You can buy full length slim mirrors now which apparently are a thing and good for confidence.
However I think you're better addressing why you feel uncomfortable gazing into one and do what your heart tells you, then you too can have a love affair with yourself darling. Must love yourself! |

I do honestly find some mirrors and lighting give a better reflection of yourself than others.
If the mirror has really messed my head I tend to take a quick picture of myself instead.
Remember also your make up and pores etc look good until you get the magnifier mirror out and omg
Don't be your own magnifier mirror. |

My sister was born blind and couldn’t see mirrors, yet she had horrific body dysmorphia and died from anorexia. So seeing in a mirror in my opinion doesn’t make things worse, I actually think seeing yourself in a mirror can give you more self wellbeing |

Love them....sorry lady but i always feel great regardless of how i look...and so should you, forget the rest...end of the day i think most of us judge ourselves when in reality...no one else really gives a fuck how you look...and if they do...who cares
Now stop with the depressing threads...its FUCKING FRIDAY |

I don't mind mirrors. I don't know if the world would be better without them because I think if anybody feels bad about themselves their visual reflection is only part of what causes that feeling.
I sometimes see a photograph and think "when did I get that old?" |

I have body dymorphia and mirrors really fuck with my head, because I'll feel OK and then I'll catch sight of myself and I feel like crying and it can ruin my mood. It's the same with taking photos and videos too. I try to avoid it unless I know I can handle a breakdown.
I just wish we could live in a world where we aren't judged for our appearance. |

One thing I can say to this is that yes we live in a world where we are judged on appearance. We are not judged the same way by everyone.
Somebody may judge you in a negative way, somebody may judge you in a positive way, and another person will judge you by not giving a fuck how you look but how they see you.
We often dwell on what is bad, wish for what is bad to be good. What we really should do is accept it, but also know not everything is bad. Focus on those that like you, and not the meat bag you carry round. Embrace both outcomes.
Note. I am using the royal "you" but it applies to you also! |
