Being called "handsome" rather than sexy

I've been seeing lots of similar TikToks to the one below, where being called handsome as opposed to sexy/hot etc feels rather different.

Does it?

I'm not sure handsome is a word I regularly use but now I've seen all these videos, I think I'd feel like some old lady from yesteryear if I called a younger man in particular, handsome.

I tend to think of it as describing aesthetically pleasing antique furniture etc now! David Dickinson saying it's a handsome sideboard or something.

I've been known to call a guy handsome in conversation. "Hello handsome!"

A handsome woman to me is a particular look, not pretty but striking. It's a distinct thing rather than a generality.

So do I. I think my partner is hot, sexy attractive and handsome, and I tell him so.

I didn't think people had a problem with the word handsome when paying someone a compliment.
