Anyone fairly expert with birds? I had a dead greater spotted woodpecker in the garden today. Not near to food or water and had no signs of having been attacked.
I assumed possible heat stress, maybe it had flown and hit something. What would you think? |

Spot on! They have to eat grit which help digests the seed/grain in their crop to aid digestion. Early mornings after the first feed is when they line the sides of the road and ‘grit’ while there’s little traffic. Hope this helps. |
