Drive in bare feet and short skirts.
Before anyone informs me I know I shouldn't drive with bare feet really but I cannot drive in flip flops or heels
Bare footed I can feel the car so much more, I just love it, i think i might be a bit strange
Please tell me I am not the only one?
I think it harks back to my twenties when I drove a little golf cabriolet but I'm not 20 anymore

I’m sure short skirts are lovely to drive in, but I wouldn’t know about that (although hopefully you haven’t got any of those seats you stick to in hot weather?! ) but a few weeks ago I had to pop to the shops and forgot I had my flip flops on and forgot to change... they’re a bloody nightmare to drive in aren’t they? Bit of a death trap so thought it was safer to kick them off to drive barefoot instead. Basically it’s all wrong! Doesn’t feel right at all! Not for me. |

"Oh crikey no I couldnt drive barefoot, your toes would all get wrapped around the pedals or something awful "
Done it most my driving life I suppose, but usually more in summer
See, now I'm feeling odd, I thought lots of people must do it

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon |
"I'm pretty sure it's illegal to drive barefooted. "
Not illegal, but they say you should wear suitable footwear. Not sure where you'd stand if you had an accident though. |

I’m pretty sure it isn’t.
The law says your footwear shouldn’t impair your driving. I watched a barrister talking about this on youtube yesterday. He said flip flops, heels, walking boots, wellies…. All could be construed as dangerous.
Barefoot could possibly be but they have to make a case why it’s dangerous. I’m barefoot much of the time and drive like that for half the year. It feels no different to when I wear pumps really. |

My ex-husband often used to drive barefoot.
So far as legality goes...
While not technically against the law, failing to have the correct footwear when you drive breaches Rule 97 of the Highway Code and could be classed as driving without due care and attention. |

There couldn't be any more appropriate footwear than your foot I guess ... |

The closest I've ever done is just in socks when moving cars on the driveway with family. Didn't find it sexy .
I think the only shoes I couldn't drive in would be super high heels. I can drive in boots with a chunky heel and I regularly drive in platform lace up boots (similar to doc martens).
For my first year after I passed my test I exclusively drove in converse though. |

"Do you all drive nice easy cars? I need the extra weight of a good boot to get my clutch down. Would snap a toe or 5 doing it barefoot "
Yes, my car is pretty easy to drive, I guess, feel more control than in flip flops or heels this way, not saying it's right.

I drive a van. It’s very easy to drive and the pedals don’t take any more effort than any modern vehicle. |

In a puddle with cold toes I'd imagine |

It isn't illegal but you do have to be able to use the pedals safely. The DSA recommend wearing footwear as being barefooted you may not be able to apply the same level of force to the brake pedal |

I definitely find it sexy, and feeling the pedals with the ball of my foot and toes feels more connected to the power (and brakes!) of the car, that might sound odd! I like foot play too so maybe that's a reason why I find it kinda sexy |
