Who hates “filtered” photos part 2

The last post filled up: so here's the sequel.

I decided to put my filtered pictures in my profile. The skin tones have been tweeked, the exposure and contrast have been adjusted too.

The irises have not. They really did look like that after I had my eye eamination. Trying to take a selfie, on a bright sunny day, with runny and blurred vision is easier said than done.

Hate is a strong word for a photo, I’m largely ambivalent

I wasn't me who started the first post. So it's not my choice of words.

How many instagrammers and the like refuse to post their passport picture online? Come to think of if, who does like that mini portrait?

I’ll drop in on this thread coz it’s not worthy of its own thead.

Let’s say you arranged a social/date and you get there and the filter use was a little too much and they just don’t look good.

Is it rude to just tell them they look different from there picture and your not interested? Even if you were getting along in txt?

I recently had a girl come over and she looked nothing like her pictures. I wasn’t attracted at all. But she was at my door and I felt obliged to go through with the date. Made chat for 2 hours then said I was going to bed.

After I felt like such an idiot. Why did I waste 2 hours of my night out of “politeness”

Because you have manners and think that people deserve a second chance.

Sadly, this visitor didn't.

This makes me so cross. It happened to me when I met a woman. Luckily it was only a social so no embarrassment, just said I want feeling any chemistry and wouldn’t meet again. She barely resembled her pics! Was such a waste of time and I wasn’t happy. Like I’ve said before face filters are deceitful.

The right place

I don’t mind some filters e.g. making a photo black and white. But I’m not keen on beautification Instagram type filters or bunny ears etc. But each to their own.

I don't think it's rude to tell them, but I think you need to show a little kindness when you do as obviously they have some issues if they are heavily filtering photos. So, don't be a twat about it basically.

I think no matter what you say, they are going to be hurt, but you're right, you did waste 2 hours just to be polite and it isn't worth it if there's no attraction. So, just deal with feeling like a twat and say something because if you've been deceived then you're in the right to put an end to it. I understand why you would rather just be polite though.

Maybe always request a video chat before meeting from now on? As you can't really hide anything on video like you can in photos.

La la land

Yeah I don't personally like them. But what I can say when you look at say other social media outlets and a lot of your friends are using some kind of filter. It's difficult not to get sucked in and not smooth out a few of your wrinkles. It says something that a couple of years ago there was a social media challenge where you posted a picture of yourself without make up and filters. And this was a big deal, I guess it's all part of trying to look perfect. When there probably is no such thing
