As much of a Tony Stark/Iron Man fanboy as I am.
Batman.
Batman wins based upon how DC have written him, despite being just a man in a suit, he is stupidly smart (beyond that of just mechanical/physics/science etc) his martial arts mastery is world class. And he has a contingency plan on how to defeat every single other member of the Justice League.
Go Team Stark! |

"Iron Man seems to help more people globally, (ignoring that nasty business in Socovia).
Batman is stuck in Gotham pretty much.
Team Stark for me. "
I'm so sorry to be pedantic, but... SOKOVIA!

On that note, who's watching Loki?! Oh how I love Loki! |

Batman every step of the way.. both are squillionaires, both use gadgets BUT all Starks strength comes from his suit, without it he's nothing. Bruce Wayne can still kick ass on an epic scale without his suit!

"Ironman obviously, he's real...Batman is just a comic character.
Wouldn’t Batman be more likely to exist?"
No. He would probably turn out to actually be like Rain Wilsons character in Super. SHUT UP CRIME!! |

A bit split on this one.
I like the Batman movies for the action, but I cannot stand the character of Batman himself.
He's taken it upon himself to be a vigilante and placed himself above the law.
He's just a very rich criminal with clever toys, justifying his pathological desire to harm others behind a veil of "doing good".
He has become that which he loathes.
Horrible, horrible man.
Ironman...same as Batman but without the vigilantism. Also arrogant and supercilious.
So neither for me, sorry.

Batman has always been my favourite hero.
I love the pathology his decent into psychosis and madness.
He has a better rogues gallery too. Iconic super villians.
The reason Iron man was the first movie in the mcu was because no one wanted to make an iron-man movie. They couldn't give away the rights. They only had the crap heroes left. But they put the perfect actor in a great story and 22 movies later its no contest. Tony stark is the winner. He figured out time travel in an evening ! |

Oooh those are fighting words!
Tony Stark is hilarious. He started out an arrogant twat but his story arc is perfect, and his relationship with the rest of the Avengers and the quips and banter is great.
Sigh. I think I need to watch me some MCU (for the 182millionth time) |

batman is a detective in the comics not so much in the movies. He sacrifices himself to protect the city he loves. Part of his sacrifice is that he becomes addicted to the violence. He becomes desensitised to it. But that just makes him more human and more of a tragedy. He has nothing but his fight against the people who are trying to destroy his home.
Iron-man has a redemption arc that is amazing. From selfish self centered egotistical brat to the man who sacrifices his life to protect his family.
I feel you were being harsh on both

You sure about that? Because, I hate to argue, but it's pretty common knowledge that's not what happened at all, and a quick Google would tell you what happened.
Also 'they only had the crap heroes left'.... Again, I beg to differ. |

For those that don't know, Marvel asked loads of focus groups of kids who they'd like to be in a superhero movie, and showed the toys and powers and costumes of them all, and the kids overwhelmingly chose Iron Man!
They then decided to cast an actor who also needed redemption in real life, hence approaching RDJ. |

"This is all documented by movie historians and those involved too. "
They didn't have the xmen. They didn't have spiderman or his villians. They didn't have the fantastic 4. They didn't have the hulk. These rights were all sold to other companies over the years because they were much more popular.
Yes they showed the toys to kids to see which one they would like but they were picking from what they considered the b level of heroes.
They tried to sell the rights to iron man for years and scripts were written but no one ever bought them. |

I think we forget now how shocking it was that the avengers became the biggest and best IP in the world.
In 2008 there was no interest in ironman. Or thor. Among comic book fans of course they would want to see a movie but there was no expectations.
That's why Kevin feige is one of the greatest storytellers ever. He took the unsexy heroes and made them the best. And then did it again and again. The captain America movies are not just good super hero movies. They are great spy thriller movies. |

Hmm difficult. I am more of a Marvel fan generally. However, I find Batman’s character and story more interesting than Ironman.
Marvel movies are awesome though.
Sadly a lot of the recent DC movies have been less entertaining. |

"They are both from different universes but I think it's widely agreed that Bruce Wayne is probably more cooler and edgier than Tony Stark. "
Bruce Wayne is an act though. Batman is his true persona.
2 separate persons sharing the same body. But Bruce Wayne is just a tool for Batman to go about his business.
Tony Stark... Well, I am Iron man. |
