Not the Judas Priest song
Why do people now take to the streets to demonstrate against law enforcement ?
Don’t want to face the law
Don’t break it

I think that usually happens when people believe the law to be unjust. If people hadn’t risen up an protested in the past then our society would look very different than it does today.
I think everyone has a duty not to just blindly follow rules and laws just because they are there. You have to ask yourself, is this right? |

UK laws are not unchangeable and are interpreted rather than stuck to slavishly. You are also free to challenge a law if you beleive it to be unjust either through the courts or by protest. |

"Because sometimes the people enforcing the law don’t do it well?
I don’t see the point your trying to make"
Generally the ones enforcing aren't the ones that make it though.... |

It’s just not that simple
Some laws need challenging e.g. the law banning homosexual acts
As society changes so does people’s perceptions of some laws.
Governments introduce new legislation like hate crimes, updating sex offences, banning mobile phones when driving etc … but are reluctant to review and remove outdated laws |

Beside nothing get changed by following the existing rules. Do you think women would be voting or gay people have rights without fighting for it ? |

Good citizens do not"
Until an unjust law is introduced, or a law is unfairly applied as it was badly defined or is outdated.
Did you know it was illegal to be d*unk in a pub?
If you were slightly d*unk and got given a massive fine and a record, would you not argue it? |

"Thinking that the law is always right and just is rather naive"
The law is an instrument of force, control, or coercion applied by the government upon those under its control. It is neither good nor bad per se. |

Laws evolve and change...
But they dont change on their own, they need dedicated people pushing for change. Changing laws take years and the most effective way to change laws is through protest.
Or else we would still be living in a world where women couldnt vote, or own land, or get a credit card.

Very true, but a large portion (not all, and maybe not the majority either) of said people don't really have a clue what they are protesting for, not truely. Not at its deepest core.
Or some fight for a just cause but take the wrong stance within those protests. |

Huh?
Did you just feel the need to say something, anything?"
What don't you understand?
You're saying that people shouldn't complain about the law, they should just not break it.
That relies on the idea that laws are always moral and fair. Which is a very naive assumption. |

Yeah I think we can all agree that the laws against murdering people or not having sex with children fall under that not good not bad umbrella |

There is a minority that cause trouble regardless of cause but Id say the majority know exactly what they are protesting for.
Subtle nuances, perhaps not - but overarching reasons absolutely.

Uhh... A law can be good, bad, neutral or even useless.
Laws against murdering people - good
Laws calling for the imprisonment of all Jewish people - bad
Laws calling for all road signs to be standardised in a region - meh?
Laws calling for a duplication of paperwork - useless |

Just choose which laws you want to respect? OK... Think I'm going to help myself to my neighbours porsche, wife, ox when I'm done with that think I'm going to paint some urban art on the sainsburys window |

"I think that usually happens when people believe the law to be unjust."
That's open to interpretation though, a lot of people who seem to have real beef with the police only do so because they keep getting caught doing things they shouldn't be like dealing drugs, violence, vandalism, driving without tax/insurance/licence, antisocial behaviour etc. |

Under the Australian constitution, it used to be held, and thus law, that indigenous Australians counted under the flora and fauna section. Thus, not human.
Yeah we should "pick and choose" - but not just for the hell of it. |

Nope.
Section 12 of the 1872 Licensing Act stipulates that ‘every person found d*unk… on any licensed premises shall be liable to a penalty’, which currently stands at £200. |

I will ignore the road traffic act and the firearms act, if I get asked why, I can refer the police to your good self |

So you don't think there should be something in place to protect people from themselves, and let them just get so d*unk they don't know what's happening to them (I worked in the pub and nightclub game for 10 years and only know of landlords having this law used against them) but Hay what do I know |

If that's the law as it stands, then it's badly drafted if designed to protect patrons.
Hey, look, a bad law. Let's change it |

It was illegal to be gay.
"But good citizens have nothing to fear from the law."
I could list 100 other things that were illegal or legal but shouldn't have been.
Society changes, laws don't always age well. Additionally sometimes powerful people try to change society to better suit themselves, they do this by creating laws, these new laws are not always good.
That's why people protest against laws. |

So you're arguing that a govt and a landlord should ignore their duty of care and allow a pub full of people inebriated by by alcohol, a poison or drugs, also poison? Even though we have lots of evidence that intoxication leads to more accidents, injuries, violence, health problems etc? |

No.
Does the law serve its purpose? Might it overreach?
What do we want the law to do, and why? Does it do that effectively? |

The right to protest is protected under the HR legislation. The new proposed policing bill threatens that, and those that agree should have the right to demonstrate and make that clear.
Those that agree with the proposals should also be allowed to have their say. |
