From the following items, what would you do if you found them while walking outside somewhere that was public:
£5
£10
£20
£50
Jewellery of some description
A bag containing a rather large sum of money
A phone
A lost dog/cat
Some people dogging? |

And before you get pedantic, I know doggers are not items. Or are they? ![](/icons/s/eek.gif) |

A lost dog or cat...
I'd rescue it...and if didn't have a phone number or micro chip make sure it went viral on social media looking for owner...but owner would have to prove proof of ownership before I'd hand the dog or cat over |

All but the pet and the doggers would go on the local Facebook group - most stuff on there finds its way back to the rightful owner. If the owner isn't found after a couple of days then they'd be dropped at the police station.
The pet would go to a local vet to check for chip, then the owner can be traced. If there's no chip then I'm afraid a dog would need to go to the local rescue, as I can't have pets in the flat.
I'm not sure I'd need to do anything with the doggers, I'm fairly sure they're capable of finding their own way home! |

Money I would see as a blessing in disguise unless its a public indoor place where others are gathered.
Then I'm going to a manager or whoever is duty in charge to hand it in.
A bag with a large amount of money is getting a call from the police to report it.
Jewellery and phone would have to be handed in to a police station.
I wouldn't know how to help a lost cat or dog but I would wish for them to be rescued and safe in an animal shelter if it can’t be reunited with its owner.
I cats and dogs xx |

"There is a criminal offence of theft by finding if I’m not mistaken, so any cash you find you are meant to try and locate its owner or hand into the police."
Nope as it’s an act of god ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

Anything that I could identify the owner from I'd return.
I wouldn't hand loose money in to the police. I very much doubt anyone would go in to a police station and say has anyone handed in my lost fiver. Well not since 1957 anyway.
The doggers could sort themselves out.

That's how I see it too unless it's in a place that can be handed in to a manager or whoever is in charge on duty but the large amount of money in a bag I'm not even touching that's getting a call to the police.
Thinking about it I hope I never have to go through that. Having to wait around for police to turn up to the location of a suspicious bag of money would be irritating where I am they can take an hour or more to arrive xx |

£50 all cash id try find the owner. Then report my find and if the owner didn't reclaim - keep it
Jewellery of some description - depends what it is. I found an Amber looking necklace years ago (that's actually plastic), it has to be unscrewed to be taken off, couldn't have fallen off - still wearing it now. I've found bits of gold earrings and knackered chains - kept them then ultimately weighed them in
A bag containing a rather large sum of money Take to police
A phone find its owner once found one in the snow on Christmas eve. It contained pics of a baby. They were out mourning the loss of the child and were ecstatic to get it back
A lost dog/cat dogs - find owners cats try to find their owner
Some people dogging?" I wish!! |
