Can you recall your last act of chivalry? Mine was helping to open a heavy and awkward shop door for an elderly lady who was struggling with her walking frame/shopping trolley. I think the lady was taken back by my actions saying 'Well that doesn't happen very often' or words to that effect. I got something out of it too. I managed to steal her purse which was carelessly left in the top of the basket. |

"You are confessing on a public forum to stealing from an old and disabled woman. That is very brave of you"
I think he’s joking about the stealing part |

I went to open a door for a couple the last time I went to the shops in town. The man said it was alright, he’d got it, so I took my glove off and slapped him with it, since he’d challenged my integrity as a gentleman. |

To avoid any confusion, of course I'm joking about the purse. |

I was approaching a zebra crossing the other day, and I saw 2 community officers about 20 upwards away. No other traffic around and whilst it would have been ok for me to carry on, I decided to wait and wave them across with a smile. Imagine my surprise when they looked and me and gave not the slightest sign of thanks or appreciation. Completely ignored the fact I was even there.
I dropped my window as I slowly drove off and said “sometimes saying thanks really makes someone’s day”. They turned and one of them said - and this is no word of a lie - “fuck off”.
Community officers!
The mind boggles ...

That's horrible, it costs nothing to be considerate to others. The reward is a thank you or gesture of appreciation. Did you consider slipping into reverse as the response you got from them would make anyone feel, why did I even bother. |

Nah - I’d never change how I treat people. . I just shook my fist in the style of a doddery old man and drove off. |

Is chivalry where you have your family crest painted on a shield or is that heraldry, I'm sure the pheasants of old found it very confusing, saying that pheasants today seem to find traffic very confusing based on the number I see dead by the roadside |

I think entwined. Chivalry is considered honorable or knightly. Knights wore coats of arms displaying symbols of heraldry signifying their decency and honour. Or something like that. |

A good few years ago I was at a university, just visiting I might add, and I saw a female walking towards me. I stepped back and held the door open only for the female to remark, “would you have held the door if I was a man”. I looked her straight in the eyes and replied, “sorry, I thought you was”. She stormed off muttering obscenities under her breath. |

Up on them there hills |
Woman fell down a set of steps, I went to help her, she told me to “fuck off, she didn’t need a mans help”.
She got up, took another step and fell down the second set.
Walked past her in a heap at the bottom, to get berated by a woman calling ungentlemanly.
Beliefs are slippery little sucker.

My last act of chivalry was, last sunday coming back from a naughty weekend. I saw a pregnant lady struggling with a case on and off train, so I helped her. |

It depends where you live, time of the day, people mood. Some women like it some don’t, some don’t give a fuxk. I do it because that’s way I have been raised. I don’t expect a thank you or gratification. It’s my nature end of. |

"all the time your helping others you are being left behind.
because when you need help, where are they?"
If you only do nice things because you expect it will lead to other people doing nice things for you in return, you are missing the point of what it means to be chivalrous.
A gift must be given freely and without conditions. |
