You have two options to get there really, helicopter or the flat bottomed boat (aka the chunder ferry)
You couldn’t land a plane there, you would skid off into the sea (no island is particularly big) |

"Tell a lie, you can get the skybus 19 seater plane, who knew? "
Yes I knew that...only a small plane that is, I really do want to go and have done for years now...just looks so tropical and beautiful...looks like it will be a mega mission for me though...Train to cornwall and then the skybus...will need to add up the cost's for it... |

I think you have been looking at the tourist pictures, it can rain plenty over there |

"Can't you get flights from Manchester to Newquay? Then from newquay to scilly"
Yup, Easyjet & Loganair both operate regularly to Newquay over the summer
If you like a bigger plane OP, Easyjet is the better option as Loganair operate props or a small (45 seat) jet
There's no getting round the leg to St. Marys though, Skybus are the only operator to the islands, so it's either a 19 seat Twin Otter plane from Newquay or Exeter or an 8 seat Islander plane from Lands End
I've looked, it's on my wanderlist too |

"Never been, on my list though, why not try the channel Islands if you haven't been pretty sure you'll get a flight from Manchester"
That is a good shout
I had a weekend in Jersey about two years ago
It was lovely
Again Easyjet fly pretty much daily from Manchester over the summer
A small airline call Aurigny have just re-started flights to Guernsey too, which is a little less commercial if you want that 'smaller island' feel |

I live there.
Basically each island has its own unique character but its easy to travel between islands there are regular ferries various trips seal snorkeling sailing horse riding etc. Stunning scenery (Execpt today its foggy).
Transport links Skybus from Exeter/Newquay/Landsend
Helicopter from Penzance
Ferry from Penzance.
It's really busy this year with foreign travel buggered up. Good luck! |
