So after years of pillar box red hair which really created some restrictions, I went to dyeing it more inline with natural. Now theres a lot of grey and I have been embracing it, I've also been dyeing it grey, not that it comes out that well to merge the new growth.
I can't decide whether to continue down this path or not.
I do think embrace the grey, it's natural and it's real, but it's also going to take a while.
I'm a do it yourself kinda woman too.
Thoughts, ideas? |

"I'm a natural redhead, but I have lots of silver highlights these days!! I'm embracing it at the moment as it's too expensive to keep going to the salon lol "
I like the grey but theres a lot of dye to grow out, id love to make a feature of it, like pure grey in the front |

I mostly grew it out over lockdown, but it was just a darker shade of red, so not all that noticeable. |

Embrace!
I'm 60 with brunette dreads and barely visible grey threads and I'm desperate to go grey.
I get what you mean though, a mate of mine with black hair started dyeing her roots in her 20's and after chemo and hair loss in her 40's was happy to let the grey grow back with abandon. |

I've been grey for a while but it is a mix of colour - light/dark blonde, grey (originally natural blonde). Still lightens in the sun. I like it as it's not quite one thing or another.
If I grew a beard it would reddy/blondey/brown. Have quite a bit of white on the chest hair. |

That's the streak I want!
But yea, my son often points out it needs dyeing, when i tell him I'm embracing it his nose curls up, saying that he want's me to go back to pillar box red |

Rock the silver !!
It'll just be a pain to transition red to grey.
Might be worth a trip to a hairdresser to do the transition for you ? |

I’m mousy brown normally. Tried dying it darker brown to hide the grey but they reappeared so quickly.
So I now have blonde foil highlights with a grey toner so I’m a cool/platinum blonde which masks the grey perfectly.
I have a maintenance toner at about 6/8 weeks after the highlights then roots done at about 12 weeks. |

Yea maybe worth doing, treat myself. The red was hard work! But I did love it!
Stopped once I started seeing lots of others with red red hair, I don't like being on trend ![](/icons/s/wink.gif) |

That is also one of my thoughts, but the rebellious side of me is like I am woman hear me roar! Looking like a polar bear lol |

I'm really enjoying the lower maintenance that life brings at the moment. I normally get mithered at the hairdresser about my grey hair, but the pandemic has slowed that right down (the mithering I mean).
But as someone with fairly dark hair, I'm looking forward to more grey so I can try another colour without bleaching the shit out of it first ![](/icons/s/lol.gif) |

I saw a woman checking into an Aer Lingus flight. She had grey hair, colour matched grey jeans, grey suit case, coat and boots.
I think she definitely embraced her grey, she had her whole outfit colour matched. |

I was pillar box... bleached and dyed every 2 weeks, wash less with cold water, dont have a shower with a man he'll think there's been a massacre, don't get wet in pool...massacre...the chlorine fades and messes with it, don't sweator go out in the rain and sleep on a black towel!
Permanents don't give the desired colour either... but it looks awesome! |

I dyed mine red for years! Till when I worked as a school cook in a primary school! And the little ones were told to draw a pic of the cook and all those orange crayons lol! Plus the grey streak through middle! Decided to go with the grey! And love it! I did get a nice shade of grey though! My sister is jeoulos of the shade I got compared to one she got! X |
