"Why do ladies go in for eye colour so much ??"
I don’t really care about eye colour but I have to say I’m a sucker for a boy with green eyes. It’s more like a bonus tho |

If you have blue eyes you are directly related to everyone else with blue eyes.
Green eyes are the rarest primary eye colour.
Grey often mistaken for blue, have the potential to be as rare as green.
Brown eyes, think of yourselves as the single men of fab. You are everywhere and there won't be a shortage anytime soon...
Hazel just exist. A mix of brown and green, but more common than green. |

To lend some credibility to the OP, women love blue eyes in Spain because the overwhelming majority of people have dark eyes so it's considered exotic.
Culturally, too, we have expressions like "blue-eyed boy" to indicate a favoured individual so I think it's fair to say that eye colour is not completely neutral. |

"Why do ladies go in for eye colour so much ??"
Must be because it's been said looking into one's eyes can be great way to take a glimpse into their soul
I'm thinking it might be the difference of just having sex or making love
What say you?

"I don’t think eye colour matters it’s all about what you see when you look in their eyes "
In the words of Bruce Springsteen:
"Tell me what I see when I look in your eyes
Is that you baby or just a brilliant disguise?" |

A fun fact about blue eyes
All blue-eyed people have one ancestor in common, born around 6,000 to 10,000 years ago. Blue eyes are caused by a gene mutation. For years, researchers had searched for it on the OCA2 gene. The OCA2 gene determines how much brown pigment is in our eyes. But what they were looking for wasn't there at all.
The mutation was found on an entirely different gene called HERC2. HERC2 turns off OCA2, meaning it turns off the brown and reveals the blue. Every blue-eyed person has this exact same mutation. |

Yup. Blue eyes are just a lack of brown pigment. Green/hazel eyes are less brown pigment than brown eyes. The colour is due to how the light scatters through the pigment (or lack thereof) and this is why green/hazel and blue eyes can appear to "change colour". They're not changing colour, it's just differing wavelengths and intensities of light scattering differently in different situations.
Yours sincerely,
Boring Science Lady |
