"I've heard this said and it kinda annoyed me.
Do you think it's true or not?"
I would say when I see status updates on fabs saying "so bored today" - it puts me off as I think if you cannot find anything useful to do and allow life to pass you by being bored, then I would not be wanting to meet you.
Not everybody who has a bored moment... is boring though. |

I generally don't get bored but I will find things boring. If I'm bored with a book then it means I'm not enjoying it so I stop reading it. Boredom is not a negative and I don't enjoy doing something just for the sake of it.
'A Philosophy of Boredom' by Lars Svendsen is an interesting book on boredom. |

Nearer than you think |
I'm a busy person with myriad things to do so I don't get bored, but sometimes I choose to be still, quiet, alone. That's an entirely positive state of mind, not at all "boring". |

Never been bored in my life to be honest but have an active mind, imagination and life! Love being busy ... the quiet, still, meditative times are luscious too but never boring! |

I can't believe time with you, could be boring. We'd find something to laugh or cry about but definitely not boring |

There was this time I set-up Debian Linux on an old PC using about 10 floppy discs so I could provide an Appletalk server to a Mac ... |

I actually feel for people that have never been bored because that's when some of my best ideas have happened or some of the most amazing experiences of my life because I've had time to be open to things and explore my imagination.

"Surely it's more likely to be exciting people that get bored.
Boring people will be used to having beige lives with nothing going on."
Thats my thinking. |

I very much agree with this.
I was a youngster back in the olden days before computers. We had 3 tv channels and kids tv finished at 6pm.
We made our own fun. Crazy carts from pram wheels. Forts from cardboard boxes. Games with elastic. |

There's always something to do for me so I don't understand how people can get bored.
My mum taught me a woman's work and as I've got older I wonder if that can be the same for men and I'm sure the same applies xx |

Having quiet time with space to think and explore ideas is different than being bored. |

No it’s not true, intelligent people are far more likely to get bored than those of lower intelligence, doesn’t mean they’re boring, it means they require more stimulus.
‘I wish I was like you, easily amused.’ |

I don't think it is.
I think we fill our time so much because we are frightened of getting bored. |

There is a massive difference between feeling bored and boring.
Its seen as a negative but it really isn't. |

I actually like being bored sometimes, because if I'm bored I'm not anxious and overthinking.
Also, when I'm bored I seem to be able to do the monotonous but essential tasks that I can't manage the rest of the time. |

This is the same for me.
There is loads i could be doing but I'm not motivated and think that comes under boredom.

"I was taught boredom is a state of mind. And I think its true. You're never bored if busy"
I completely disagree with this. It's entirely possible to be rushed off your feet and bored stiff at the same time. Activity isn't necessarily interesting. |

Busy doesn't necessarily mean stimulated and fulfilled. |

I would never get bored because I'm always interested in learning new things and like exploring the world around me. I would have thought anybody with curiosity and freedom to investigate wouldn't get bored. It's not my place to say people who are not like that are boring. |

Exactly this. I'm often bored at work but rarely in my own time. |

Precisely! Tail end of last year, I had all the floors in my home replaced. Had to move all my things round the place, out of the way of the fitters. Whole week out of my life, hard physical labour, basically moving house several times in successive days. No time to sit down, sleeping on floors, mostly spent soaked in sweat... and one of the most boring weeks of my life. |

Can't say I've ever subscribed to this theory. If ever I hear it levelled at myself or others I like to point out they're just easily amused and intelligence takes more stimulating. |

Nah.
I'm rarely bored as I keep myself super social and super busy. In my rare quiet times I'm not bored I'm likely just knackered.
Some people just have less to do with their time. Less commitments, less family and friends. That doesn't make then ALL boring. Some people are obvs just boring though. |
