To those running lazy spa type hot tubs.. what sort of running costs on the electric are you seeing.
I'm now on a prepay meter and realised I'm using about £10 to £12 a day which seems ridiculous
Normally I use £20 a week in total.
Its sheltered but not in an enclosure... it's on a well insulated floor. Its left on and tend to have it 37degrees and turn it up when needed. Bubbles were run for an hour in total over 3 days. Its plugged into the socket on the wall outside designed for garden equipment x

thanks. It does seem to be using a lot. I never noticed last year as was on a monthly tariff.. now I pay as you go and wow... it is a lot. Wondering if its not holding the heat well or something.

Mine is about 3degrees per hour. Do you leave the lid on when warming up?
When do you last clean the nozzles inside the tub? mine clog up with particles. |

You can really help reduce the heat loss by putting the tub onto 100mm celotex RR boards for a start. That reduces heat loss through the floor which is massive.
I've wrapped my tub in 25mm boards around the sides as well.

yeah been looking at a insulation jacket. I've put really good flooring under it. Wondering if popping my old rescue blanket over and around it while not in it may be a good idea till I've got a thermal jacket for it.
I've changed the plug its plugged into now to see if that helps. As was plugged into the one on the outside wall which was put in for outside tools or to plug a caravan in to x |

Same here. We check the weather and if we're hoping to hop in we switch it on in the morning to heat up. Depends on the ambient air temperature how long it takes to warm up. Not wasting money then when we don't use it. |

We use ours all the time all year round. Winter gets expensive as the heater has to work extra hard to keep the water temperature. We're looking to get a thermal hot tub jacket at some point. Hopefully this will help keep the heat in and costs low. |

That sounds you have a problem with the outside socket. Maybe the wiring/socket is corroded. |

Didn't really notice how much electricity mine was using. It's been out of action for a while as I've built an outbuilding for it, but was let down last year by an electrician who never came back to me with a quote to run power to it.
I run a wayer bed too, which is about equivalent to running a fridge |

its quite new and only just had a electric survey and it passed fine but plugged it into the outhouse for a few days see if it makes any difference |

ibe been told it costs more to use it you heat it up as and when... also I tend to jump in first thing in the morning lol |

I got rid of mine i found unless its left on consyantly its useless take to long to warm up, put it on a timer over night to get a bit of respite from the big bills or buy a generator to run it 5kilo minimum ?? |

Strangely i was only talking to my friend about this today, i had a solid state 8 person tub it cost around £120 per month in leccy it was obscene, my friend has a lazy spa and that costs around £1 per hour according to his smart meter and thats on a good tarrif.  |

There is little insulation in a lazy spa. You can buy large foam cushions to put under the lid which may help. Can remember how much mine cost but even my fully insulated 32amp 6 person tub costs around £3 a day |

I have a Canadian manufactured outdoor hot tub. It can hold 16 people at a push, but very cosy with 6. It has been sprayed with insulating foam, to about 6-10 inches, underneath and the sides. I have sheets of 6 inch insulation as a cover. It takes about 2
Days to heat up from cold, and i leave it on all the time, outdoors. It seems to cost a little over a Euro a day. I love it. Its now about 20years old, and going great. 37* tonight, and friends coming around. |

It's because you're on a meter. The tariff on those is awful.
A 2kw heat/pump unit running 24 hours a day at max output at 15p per kw/h on my tariff is only £7.20 a day.
They don't run at at full power all the time though. Heat up is anywhere from 10-14 hours then it's on and off to keep temp up. When I had one it was £40-50 month |
