So I have been close to tears watching the news and seeing the pictures of the sinking cargo ship out in Sri Lankan waters...this vessel carried tons of plastic pellet's intended to make plastic carrier bags...this are now floating about in the sea and also washing up on the pristine white sand beaches and already killing Turtles and other sea life...locals trying to clear up the plastic from the beach...when this boat does eventually sink then it will be an oil slick spilling out of it and god knows what else causing real damage

Awful awful. This kind of event should surely have all nations racing to help stop the damage and protect the environment.

Humans are so selfish. Makes me mad and also sad.. Take care now OP.

Yeh and man is trying to set up mining stations on the moon and Mars, already covered in space junk.

If karma decides to bite.

I guess having to pay for plastic bags worked then. Humans gread equals polluting the planet. We use plastic packing way to much. I fear for the wildlife having this inflicted on them.

It’s a disaster the could have been prevented. The ship was denied safe harbour to deal with the leaking chemicals in two ports before it caught fire at sea

I didn't know all this...shocking it truly is shocking and now all these chemicals will be in the sea too...The ship is now going to be sat half in the sea rusting away...in time sea creatures will make this a home as they have other ship wrecks It really is just so heartbreaking for the area and the wild life it is killing

I haven't watched the news so I was unaware of this.

Just from reading this thread, it's really disturbing.

When I think of the environmental consequences it is heartbreaking!

We all comsume in one way or another the various cargoes it was carrying. From plastic bags, to cheap clothing to hair dye. Uncomfortable as it may be - We all have a part in this.
