I think this pandemic has finally caught up with me.
I was ok throughout the past year as I knew that one day I'll be able to see my friends again but with the last of the restrictions soon to be lifted (if it does), I soon felt this sense of worry making me think, will I see my friends again?
It worries me as I fear I'll be back where I started 4 years ago with social anxieties, no friends and low confidence.
I miss my friends because they helped me become a more confident and happier person than I was many years ago.
I don't know what to do |

"Aw dude! If it was just you and your friends would the anxieties be as bad?"
I was always grateful of the friends I made over the past 4 years because I felt like if it weren't for them, I wouldn't be here today. |

I hear you, I'm not brilliant at socialising. And I'm so far out of practice the thought of it makes me worry. But if your friends have kept in contact that means they like you, don't let any self doubts you have tell you otherwise. Chat with them about how you are feeling, I'm sure they'll be understanding |

Well the only way to thank them is to meet them and say so. I know the feeling of not being able to even get out of bed and wish you hadn't woken up. SO I know it's not easy wherever you are on the scale dude. Fight it, tell it to fuck off and won't win over you. You can do this mate x |

"Have you contacted them and made plans to catch up?
I've always been in touch and hoped to catch up but I don't think they'll be able to or can't get the time."
Don’t worry. There are a million things to do as we emerge. Everyone will be busy. Give it time and let things to settle.
People may not be as readily available as they were during lockdown but they are still friends. Making time will come. Have patience. |

I'll do my best not to let it get to me. When I first started going out, it was difficult to talk to people due to my autism. I would always fear they would ignore me or tell me to go away. |

Yes, what he said in rather more colourful language than my waffling manner. |

I miss my friends too which is why we have decided to go on a road trip to Blackpool at the end of the month. Where there is a will there is always a way. Not seen them for 18months so will be great when we all meet up again. |

I'll do what I can. It is a pain being on my own sometimes as it can feel lonely. |

Many of us have felt the effects of being alone and loneliness can hit every now and then. Don’t let it get hold. I make a list of things I enjoy, that perk me up. Even simple things like putting on my happy playlist and dancing by myself to it or ones that remind me of what I’ll be getting back to when we are free again. |

To keep myself occupied, I either go out while listening to music or watch YouTube or play games while I'm at home. |

That’s right. Be prepared to make yourself do the things that perk you up. Loneliness can feed on its own negativity. You have to fight it sometimes and that’s by not allowing to make you think you are alone. You are not. Your friends may be busy at that time going about their business but they are still friends and haven’t forgotten you. You have to make yourself remember that when loneliness starts taking hold of you. It’s very important because you’ve already been in that position before. |

You're right there. I shouldn't let it get to me as it would only make me feel worse. I've got to remember that my friends have been there for me whenever I've been down. |
