To get the princely sum of £1 per week I had to vacuum and dust or polish every day after school (my mum had major ocd and worked full time) and dry the pots every night. I also had a paper round which paid around £3 to £4 per week. If we’d had mines where I lived - I’d probably have been sent down those too! "Take it there were no mines in Preston ish because trust me my lady you would of been sent down there for your cheek xxxx lol | |||

"Used to mow the grass, wash two cars and I had to feed and clean out the hens and ducks I absaloutly loved my chores used to get £10 a month but I probably would have done it for half that from about age 10 my dad would let me move the cars about to wash them and I used to run out the house first when ever we went any where and I would turn the car around for them and don't get me started on De icing the windows lol" Tom driving at 10 could you see over-the wheel lol | |||

" good memories yes don't know about you but also soda syphon got a bit more for them we use to climb over the pub wall and nick them then take them to the off licence for the money should I go to jail for tha t lol | |||

Did exactly the same except the pub on the corner had an off sales window and took them there. Think Newcastle brown bottles were a premium I can remember. | |||

I remember my dad bought me an old workbench so I could saw wood when we was fixing stuff. Made all kinds of crap that in my young head we're alien blasters or rocket packs  | |||
