"Married in a Catholic ceremony despite divorcees not being allowed to. "

Divorcees are permitted to marry in a catholic ceremony.

A relative of mine was married Church of England and then divorced, then married a catholic in a catholic ceremony.

The Catholic Church is so arrogant that if you weren’t married in a catholic ceremony then they don’t recognise your marriage so they don’t recognise your divorce either.

That's interesting, so the Catholic church is happy to widen the goalposts to save the souls of those outside the faith, or is it to help swell the coffers to cover the next paint job on church, or pay the lease on the holy fathers next BMW or Mer_edes Benz.

Or cover up the next kiddyfiddling scandal?

As for calling them by their chummy brand names, they're not your mates and they couldn't give a flying fuck about you - apart from your vote. So call them Johnson (very apt, and he's a big one) - or Spaffer if you prefer - and Symonds, aka the future ex Mrs Johnson.

She's 33 not 18.

She's in ocean conservation.

She married him, she wasn't abducted.

Did he cheat or had the marriage already broken down ?

Why do you paint a picture of domestic bliss where one partner leaves the other when they hear of cancer ?

Aren't you as guilty of lying as he is ?

P.S. I am not a fan of Tory politics but the personal smearing of people for no good reason not even the truth gets on my tits at times.

I'd have thought the saying was 'young enough' ....

He is 23 years older but she is a WOMAN and not a young girl , is the point I wanted to make.

At what age does it become no longer necessary to measure the gap ?

Im 66 and a bloody half. My current 'friend' is 50.

He's a grown man. I haven't lured him with biscuits... oh wait..... I have. Mostly jaffa cakes.

"Married in a Catholic ceremony despite divorcees not being allowed to. "

I'm waiting for a friend who is an expert in Canon law to come back with some information on this.

My understanding, to date, is that the Catholic Church does not recognise Johnson's previous marriages and divorces as they did not involve the Catholic Church.

They were, thus, declared null and void and Johnson and Symonds could marry in a Catholic ceremony.

This has interesting implications as Johnson's previous offspring become, by definition, illegitimate.

This is likely to have consequence on his Estate (when he dies) and. once again, suggests that he's failed to consider all possible outcomes to his actions.

What utter rubbish.

It Is only the Catholic Church that does not recognise the previous marriages.

The British legal system recognises them fully

It will have no effect on the legitimacy of his previous offspring at all or their claim to any inheritance, should there be any.

Doesn’t this just mean that they were null and void to the Catholic Church, not legally?

Also having children illegitimately doesn’t disinherit them, so long as they’re recognised in his estate. This isn’t the 1800’s

A child born outside of marriage should have their birth re-registered if their birth parents marry at a later date. I’be never bothered with our eldest though as I don’t believe in re-writing history

"Awfully convenient that he moved his wedding up a year to coincide with the Cummings fallout. "

They will have had to have given notice at a registry office & had their banns read unless they had a special licence. Given his history, I’d have wanted to go to Marriage Preparation classes too

I’m Catholic but would never dream of having a Catholic wedding

Didn't they only release a couple of pics? It's usually the papers that make a big thing out of stuff like this.

Harry squints at the sun and there's multiple headlines saying Meghan is making him miserable.

Well I am not knocking the mods here but someone needs to step forward. On behalf of all of the fab community, I apogise for all of these hurtful comments to the newly married couple

I have not posted yet but I really would not want you to apologise on my behalf - I dont wish them ill (there is a baby to be considered) but I dislike people who do not understand the meaning of integrity. (I am referring to Boris to eliminate any misunderstanding!)

They managed to have a lovely day whilst so many other couples have had to postpone numerous times. T’s brother lost so much money on his wedding & it’s not fair. After 2 failed marriages you think he’d give up.

To be fair, weddings had to be cancelled because of Covid.

Hey Tom, don't apologise on peoples behalf, I am sure they knew what they meant to type and I doubt they would be reading them anyway
