Is there a new thing now regarding politics and swinging?

I’ve seen 3 profiles in the last 24 hours that mentioned “not meeting tories” or similar words.

What the actual fuck?

I’ve never told anyone my political beliefs and I never will, but ruling someone out based on a political party?

Imagine I put “not meeting anyone who eats cheese”. See how stupid that sounds?

Or just me?

.

Is this going to be like social Vs social meet?

It makes sense to me. People want to be able to talk, if someone holds political viewpoints they are vehemently against perhaps they won't have much common ground.

Do you eat cheese?

How are my politics relevant? I can promise you, in 15 years of swinging, and 2 years of clubbing, I’ve NEVER had a conversation about politics

Calling a thread politics is just asking it to be put in the politics forum, you should have called it ‘This has nothing to do with politics, no sirree, none whatsoever!’

But yes, I used to see this all the time elsewhere, only occasionally seen it on here. I dunno who wants to talk politics on a meet anyway.

There is that, but if you’re liberal shouldn’t you be open to other viewpoints as is the definition ?!

No it shouldn't make a difference to if your compatible sexually but I understand why some people might use that as a filter. It kinds of gives you an idea of the person's morals and beliefs when you know who they vote for.

Politics probably just best left out the bedroom

That's you though and the way you use Fab. Different people use Fab in different ways. 15 years of swinging and 2 years of clubbing doesn't make your way the only, or indeed the right way to do it. It's individualistic.

Ha! You should be but I imagine that's up to a certain degree. I've not stated my politic beliefs nor where I stand on this, I just can understand why some people might not meet people who have politic views that are very different from their own.

What I’m saying is that politics has nothing to do with swinging, just cause I believe in big government or small government doesn’t effect conversations I have in person.

And you didn’t answer my question......do you eat cheese?

Politics is far more than big government or small government.

People don't necessarily want to talk to people who won't share similar views as them. Or ones who have views who are very different to them. It's not that difficult to understand.

I dated a girl for 15 years and the only time politics came up was during elections and brexit. And even then it was her asking the pros and cons of each party.

Politics and my beliefs is irrelevant in my opinion.

This. Politics infiltrates every aspect of our lives, I don't believe there is a way to keep politics out of anything. If it's one of the ways people want to filter others, who are we to judge?

I quite like a chat as well as sex... flirty conversation over coffee is all part of a social meet. Id like to think I'm easy going, ebullient company, and it's possible that politics might crop up in general conversation. If a man's political views get my hackles up, there'll be no sex.

It's just how I roll. You do you, I'll do me.

Politics can be an issue for me, if that person has extreme right wing views.

I see it the same way as intelligence I would prefer a meet with someone who is equally or more intelligent than myself, rather than someone who isn’t. So I do prefer a Guardian reader over a Scum ...sorry (not really sorry) Sun reader.

Some people do / dont like anal, CIM, bareback, spanking, role play etc etc

And might not want to meet a person who likes something they dont because they feel they wont be compatible.

This is the same. The fact that you dont want to talk about politics might even put some people off but encourage others to say hello.

Wouldn't you pick up on these views in conversation anyway? I've got mates who voted for each party (the two main ones anyway) because it was right for them and their family. I can't disown them for it. But if they had extreme views I wouldn't be mates withn them.

I do find it odd that people will openly state they'd not meet a Tory but people are less likely to stipulate they'd not meet a Leftie.

My politics are rather central, so extreme views on either side would unsettle me. But only very extreme views, as I'm not terribly political, so couldn't get into a long winded discussion about it.

Because some people have extreme political views.

Hilter had extreme political views, how many people would really want to sleep with him knowing his political alignment.

Yes that is an extreme example (I fucking hate the extreme!) but it is relevant to what people are trying to say. Their beliefs are stronger than their urge to sleep with person X, so they are distancing themselves from X.

It is not a difficult concept to grasp.

"Why on earth should politics have anything to do with meeting anyone? I have friends of every single political colour/persuasion ... as an adults we all just agree to disagree and never mention it! Life is soooooo much more than politics!

I like people regardless of their political alignments ... honestly if politics defined a person I'd be less likely to like them! Life is so much more than politics "

Racism is political, sexism is political - you would gladly sleep with people who held these views?

If somebody supported the holocaust or is a nazi?

I'm not saying tories or any political party are these things. Just that they are political views. And based upon what you are saying you would ignore these things if you?

"Is this going to be like social Vs social meet?

It makes sense to me. People want to be able to talk, if someone holds political viewpoints they are vehemently against perhaps they won't have much common ground.

Do you eat cheese?

How are my politics relevant? I can promise you, in 15 years of swinging, and 2 years of clubbing, I’ve NEVER had a conversation about politics "

Good for you.

In 25 years we've had plenty of discussions about politics because we do repeat meets and prefer to make regular friends, ergo you learn about those people and their world views.

Personality aspects, which may well include politic views, are going to be of interest to some people. At the end of the day it's not your concern. It's their choice so don't meet, move on and get over it.

"I get it.. a don’t do politics but I get why someone wouldn’t want to meet with different views .. like already said just another thing you don’t have in common..!!

I dated a girl for 15 years and the only time politics came up was during elections and brexit. And even then it was her asking the pros and cons of each party.

Politics and my beliefs is irrelevant in my opinion. "

I'm amazed that you dated someone for 15 years and never discussed politics.

That's an amazing feat.

I have friends on both sides of the political spectrum and consider myself left of Centre.

I have zero tolerance for the extremely woke or the far right.

I must admit, I am amused that you claim to not see why people will be selective about who they spend time with.

For example, I would not want a child to go to bed hungry because of the mistakes of their parents.

Some people think punishing a child for their parents mistakes is okay.

I wouldn't want to spend 5 minutes in the company of people like that for example.

We would only do this with people we get on with. If somebody is a serious right-winger, then we seriously lack common values. It would be very difficult to like them enough to want to have sex with them. It's all about that thing the call "connection" that people talk a lot about on Fab.

It’s a difficult question to answer. You have to be more specific. What kind of cheese? Any? Cow’s milk only? Ready sliced supermarket basics? Casu martzu? Vegan cheese? Lemon cheese? Dick cheese?!

Actually, I refuse to meet anyone who enjoys dick cheese and will henceforth put that on my profile.

As for politics and swinging, although they perhaps aren’t natural bedfellows I for one prefer my actual sexual bedfellows to be “whole” persons/personalities to whom I feel attracted. A multifaceted sum total of physical, psychological, spiritual, moral, etc., characteristics to connect with, however tenuously, so to speak. Someone’s political views tend to play a part in that equation and are a good indication of their general values in life.

When embarking on a bedroom-expedition with someone I always find that a mutually satisfactory conclusion to proceedings is much more likely if our compasses sort of point in the same direction to start with… and we’re looking at the same map, of course.

It’s only sex, you say? Someone’s views don’t really matter when you’re getting all hot and steamy? Perhaps not. Then again, Ted Bundy was considered quite the charming looker by many a lady and he could have easily bedded a few more after his trial (not sure that would’ve ended well for them). It must’ve been his posh hair. Not politics, I know, I’m just painting a picture.

Also, don’t forget that “traditional family values”, and being vehemently opposed to any form of sexual and personal liberation considered falling outside of a narrowly defined “normal”, are very much politicised points of view (and usually heavily concentrated on one side of the political ideological spectrum). And who wants to swing with a hypocrite, right?

But that’s enough sultry bedroom talk from me! If the idea of an orgy with Josephs Stalin and Goebbels, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Anders Breivik, Kim Jong-un, Pol Pot, Abubakar Shekau, et al., make you go “Phwoar! I’ll have a bit of that!”, who am I to disagree? An extreme example perhaps, but I’m sure you get my point.

That said, I don’t want everyone to think exactly the same, and often enjoy a bit of friendly combative debate. But I don’t generally get on well with individuals veering off too far in the direction of political periphery (nor, funnily enough, those who claim not to have any particular views at all).

Final point: being a decent human being has little, if anything, to do with one’s level of intelligence.

"It’s a difficult question to answer.

Literally everything is political. Including sex.

"I'm not political" is in itself a political position.

As to why it comes into swinging: Would you really want to fuck someone whose beliefs directly harm you, or the people you care about?

Far too busy flirting and having fun to chat politics when I meet people from here in real life.

Unless they are in your face shouty about it and all round unpleasant then it doesn’t bother me.

I have been told to go back where I came from once in a club once they found out where I’m from. That is about as overt political it’s been in that environment.
