Netflix changed basic subscription to 480p

Most data plans already offer Netflix streaming free from data usage.
And besides if on mobile nothing would stop you from manually turning down resolution. |

Nope. Basic was 720p when I last subscribed to it.
They must have changed it in the last few months. |

It’s the only thing I can think off for it
Wouldn’t know on the free streaming as I have a truely unlimited data plan anyway so never need to worry about it
Was just the first thing that poped in to my head was because phone screens are so small they don’t benefit really from 4K or that any way pixel per inch |

Just checked their site.
The basic plan at 5.99 is 480p.
The standard plan at 9.99 is in 1080p.
The premium plan at 13.99 is UltraHD (where available)
This is the same as before isn't it?
Are you sure you didn't check the wrong plan? |

I pay £5.99 for the basic and it's always been 480p.
480p - is the resolution the video is streamed in. The number is the vertical resolution (ie number of pixels) the 'p' stands for progressive scan which is how the TV displays the picture. |

Video quality the higher the resolution better the quality
Mostly to do with screen size anything under 27 inches over 1080p is a waist as you not really see the benefits
32-55 inches 4K
55- and behoned 8K |

AHhh nevermind, the first 30 days they offered 720p and then after that it went to 480p.

All of these technical innovations are pointless if your eyes can’t identify the difference.
All of this is a bit daft really, most people can’t tell the difference between resolution types, it’s just the numbers that people look at.

I cancelled six months back due to the lack of new releases and old programmes/films being release due to delays with covid. Seeing that filming commenced ages ago and still nothing decent being released, I’m glad I cancelled. With hiking prices, Netflix need to rethink their market as I for one went to Amazon Video and they do a free trial too xx |

There are sites which offer free streaming of movies/TV series which are usually only on offer on paid for platforms.
These sites will be operating in a legal grey area and are probably just front ends for torrents (they won't be hosting the content themselves which is how they try to get around copyright-infringement issues). |

But I would advise against using them unless you're aware of how aggressive notifications and adverts work.
Otherwise you might download a virus or get scammed out of your money. |

A few months ago I discovered all the South Korean series and movies, and now have a backlog of dozens of things waiting to be watched. The style is different from much of what we are used to over here, but in a good way. The scripting and acting of many of them is far better than anything coming out of the western world. And I've absolutely fallen in love with Do Bong-soon in "Strong Girl Bong-soon". |

Really looks like it's ALWAYS been under 720p. Not seeing anything to suggest that has changed in years looking back through older news articles etc.
I did used to be on the 4k plan, but when they increased the price, I dropped down to regular HD, and ended up giving them less money, so that one certanily didn't work out for them as far as my account goes. |
