"Cook it. And even if it was a few days over as long as there wasn't actual mold on it and didn't smell funny. Use by/best before dates can be bit arbitrary."

My copy&paste answer from the other thread

Although by the time the forum has decided it will probably have gone off.

Secret hideaway in the pennines

It's only 2 days, with it being a couple of days out, you will be fine, I wouldn't risk it with meat, but garlic bread go for it

Cook it, it'll be fine. I'd probably even cook it a few days after the use by date because I'm gross. This may explain why I currently have stomach flu

Absolutely not, that would be horrible to suggest that you don't clean it from 1 year to the next.

But maybe 1 decade to the next x

It it a best before date? In which case no problem

If it's a Use By date be more careful.

Cook it, 2 days is nothing.

I work on the theory it's always good for a few extra days and they're being conservative to avoid lawsuits if you get good poisoning. Usually the sniff test works.

Caveat: obviously if there's visible mould then bin immediately!
