Who has gone through this? Any words of wisdom or good reading you could send my way please?

I put your title into Google and quite a few links and videos came up.

Good luck x

Thanks Granny, so did I this morning and I'm sifting through a boggling array of articles.

You feel how you feel, and whatever that is, it’s ok.

Take your time and be gentle with yourself.

I suppose it must be a very different position to be in than a conventionally loving and generous parent. Hope you find what you're after, and build from it, wherever you're starting from.

I hope you get through this OP. I have a narcissistic parent and it's very difficult.

I know it's not the same but my ex was like this too and after the pain of the break up I wrote an open letter to him and stuck it in the drawer. A few months or so later I read it and burned it. That was my goodbye and my closure. Maybe doing something like this will help you. Take care and be well x

I'm sorry for your loss. Or - that your stage in life has changed. I suppose it's difficult to know how to frame in these circumstances.

I can't remember if there was a chapter on death in this book, but I read one called Will I Ever Be Good Enough? It didn't speak to me, but apparently it's very good on the N-parent dynamic. (I found Toxic Families excellent)

Yes. There's a great book I read, I'll email you privately with details.

surrounded by twinkly lights

I see my feelings towards her as a big book and I am slowly tearing out the pages and burning them, 2 1/2 years since mine died and I am getting there

There is lots of self help out there, make sure you find something you can connect with x

I went through that in December 2016.

After the initial shock of course, I felt relief.

He was a great provider, I got a fantastic education thanks to him. So I was never neglected in provision. But he made my mother suffer for more than 3 decades.

I don’t muss him one bit and very rarely do I think of him... I miss my FIL much more.
