Two bears escaped from Whipsnade zoo and mauled a wild boar before zoo officers shot these wild beasts.

That's why I would never live near a zoo

We have Wallaby’s round here that escaped from a private animal collection. They used to be sighted quite frequently. Probably all died out now sadly.

He also used to keep a Congo Buffalo good job he never got out.

Such a shame, they're beautiful animals.

Shame there isn't a quick working tranquilliser so that they don't have to kill an animal if it happens again.

RIP bears

If you don’t eat porridge you have little to fear from bears..

I moved away from living by the zoo for exactly these reasons.

I built a new home in the grounds of a maximum , security prison.

I'm not stupid you know.

A pack of wolves escaped from Colchester zoo a while back and the police snipers had to hunt them down and shoot them one by one. The carcases were piled high at the end of the operation. Living near a zoo can come with risks.. The police got lucky on that occasion. Could have ended in slaughter if the wolves got hold of human scent..

Years ago someone had their pet crocodile escape from a house in Liverpool, it was shot in the marshes by Runcorn.

It doesn't matter where you live, there could be vicious animals living next door.

Should those bears have been shot? Surely offering them meat laced with sleeping potion on a stick would have worked... Or a familiar zoo face .. a bear whisperer...

Will there be an enquiry...?

Sadly it would have worked to slow tom and the enclosure they had escaped to had a low fence.

A dru.ged up pi..ed off bear isn't a happy bear and likely to go on the rampage before the drugs work

Maybe hunny, marmalade, porridge or a picinick basket would have been better

Yogi and booboo never had this problem, more a love hate relationship with ranger smith.

has it been reported yet if the boar that the bears ate after escaping their enclosure had been winding them up in the past ? I'm guessing he didn't feel too clever when that tree came down...

Bears are no joke. Extremely temperamental. Think I would rather deal with a Lion then Grizzly. We just get black bears and they can be nasty.

A while back = 2013

Carcasses piled high = 3 carcasses are not high.

Just get Ted Nugent to live nearby with a shooting licence & a ranch!

He'd have it on his wall, carpet rug, in his freezer faster than you could say Yogi Bear. see his link:-

Actually this happened in the early 80's, the owner was a member of the Liverpool Philharmonic orchestra. It escaped from his basement, and was spotted a few day later out on the marshes by the M56 motorway, the police shot it before it could escape.

Would a crocodile survive in the wild in Liverpool ?

How the heck did a musician get to own a crocodile?

Depends where the fight takes place, on land, in water, is it a no rules fight or is it held under queensberry rules ?

Can the animals use weapons or is it bare claws ?

Deadliest mammal is the hippo. Grizzly taking on a hippo would be interesting.

Shallow waters give the advantage to the croc if it's a fully grown salt water croc.

On land 6 times out of 10 the bear but in shallow water I'd reverse the odds to the croc 6 times out of 10.

In Deeper water it would be game over for the bear every time

Where's the fight taking place,is it in Africa or North America and what's the weather like ?

Extreme African heat or a North American winter ?

Is the hippo in a watering hole or is it in a clearing on land ?
