"Which hurts the most:
Saying something you wish you hadn't
Or
Saying nothing and wishing you had"
Saying something I wish I hadn't. Because once said I cannot take it back. I can go back and say something if I choose not to say something at the time. |

Oh heck, think they both can invoke the same level of pain and hurt x |

"Which hurts the most:
Saying something you wish you hadn't
Or
Saying nothing and wishing you had" depends on the outcome of what you said, both can hurt one way or another but for different reasons |

It depends on the details, but in my experience I usually mess up on option 1 worse and more frequently. |

Saying something I wish I hadn't.
There's always time to say the thing in the future if you keep it to yourself, but once the words are out there they can't be taken back. |

Both have their pros and cons. In my life I've had cause to regret things said and also wish I'd spoke up sooner on some things. Both have had long reaching consequences. |

One might hurt the person you say it to, the other will eat you up inside, may make you feel guilty if things go tits up for the person you wanted to say it to.
Just comes down to a simple how strong is the friendship and whether they might actually listen to your point of view. Other wise I stay out of it, it’s not my business and let the individual work it out and maybe a lesson learnt depending on the situation. |

.
I think the latter.
The former can be undone. It may take time and much effort to prove that you had been wrong to say it but it can be undone.
To say nothing when speaking up might’ve helped is a guilt that cannot be easily let go of, especially when your silence has resulted in irrevocable damage. ![](/icons/s/sad.gif) |
